In addition to the titles mentioned above, Buck recorded several times for Muse. I don't know how easily they can be found, but each has its charms. Capital Hill features Buck with a Barry Harris led rhythm section. The Buck Stops Here features the under-recorded Johnny Coles in the front line, again with Barry Harris on piano. I'm Beginning to See the Light and Impulse are all Buck, this time with John Ozment on piano. All are well worth tracking down. Its good to see a new recording, as there have been rather big gaps between the chances he's had in the studio.

And what is it that makes you hate the Mets now, too?

I saw it recently. You might try searching completed items, you might find out what it sold for.

Anonymity and being separated from the individual is certainly an important part of this. However there is another element that no one has mentioned, and that is the fact that at websites such as these, you have no control over who you will encounter or how often that may occur. That is to say, there are people in this community who, based on their behavior here, I would never personally interact with (they are not named Chuck or Chris, by the way). We've compared this site to the "neighborhood bar" and the fact is, were these people to enter my neighborhood bar, I would not be present for long. So, the point is that short of using "ignore" options, one can rub up against intensely objectionable people in cyberspace, and that can easily lead to the kind of unpleasant interactions Joel has described.

Well today certainly proved that you never know in baseball. I was pretty much resigned to the Yankees taking over first place, figuring: Young Mr. Weaver would give us fits Beckett was due for a bad start -Plus- RJ has been pitching well for the Yanks the guy going for the D-Rays was 2-9 with a horrible ERA Guess this was a "reverse lock", huh?

Are we comparing summer events to summer events? Doesn't the city empty out this time of year?

I'd be curious, but I'd also hope that it isn't some recording after Basie became a ghost band. I know it was still a pretty good group, but I'd be more interested if this were some sort of a '60s date.

Only 10 people so far? C'mon, its a good BFT, I swear. How about you, Free For All? I picked out a couple of trombone cuts with you in mind ...

I know that debtors have certain rights with collection agencies, like telling them not to contact at work, but what are the rights of individuals getting harrassed by a company that has the wrong person? My wife got a credit card offer in the mail (addressed to "Suzanne" not "Susan"), which turned out to be an offer wherein 1/2 of her "debt" (which they claimed was over $13000) would be forgiven if she opened this credit card account. So she calls the 800 number and they asked for the last four of her social security number to prove that she isn't the person they're looking for, they seem real apologetic and that's that. Til today, a scant two days later when we got a voicemail message insisting that she call immediately to clear up her "account". I swear, if I get one more call from these bozos I'm going to go ballistic on their asses. But in the meantime, does anyone know what the rights of the falsely accused are in this situation? Thanks.

There are some nice Percy France memories here from Allen Lowe. Between the two of you he sounds like a helluva good guy.

Dave, Its ten years in the league/5 years with the same team to have trade veto power. Not 5/5. Lee is a free agent, that's why the Brewers finally made a deal because after a short discussion they knew they couldn't re-sign him. But no first-time free agent is going to have veto power on a trade.

Are you sure Jon Hart isn't still the GM, Big Al? Typical Stupid Ranger Trade, pitching needed, trade for a free agent hitter. And give up a pitcher to get him!

Joe's post of the classic Onion article about the tenth circle of hell opening up made me think of this one. I'm going to need to think about it, but I'm leaning towards John Tesh.

Man, how often do you get an opportunity to connect "Dick Rising" to "Peter North"? Carry on.

Hidden hoard of live rock to be released
Dan Gould replied to BERIGAN's topic in Miscellaneous Music
Well Chuck hearing the recording, this is not a multi-generation source. Its clearly straight from the soundboard to reel to digital. One generation from the source. I love all eras of B.B. but its very rare to find recordings much earlier than this. Listening to these tracks he's sounds as strong as the Blues is King album or Live at the Regal. -

Hidden hoard of live rock to be released
Dan Gould replied to BERIGAN's topic in Miscellaneous Music
Speaking of Fillmore recordings, a truly rare and sure to be spectacular recording has appeared on Dime: Two sets of B.B. King, first generation CD off of soundboard, live at the Fillmore East in 1971. The seeder says "I just got the ok to put up" but I am guessing that OK came from his source, not B.B. or this guy who bought the tapes. Don't snooze and lose! -
Cool that Blue Note is going to document the festivities, though I presume these are one-offs and they haven't signed KB or Wilson.

They suck. Yankees are lucky. I'm nauseous.

He's tellin' the truth! Some nice nuts nuts to crack, some weird stuff, some of the type that makes you kick your ..... for not recognizing the players instantly ..... that said: Dan: the discs arrived here today. Thanks for prompt service. I will have an internet connection and a hi-fi at my disposal in the house where we stay from the 14th, so everything will be fine. Been listening to disc one this afternoon, a real fun compilation, I nailed one track so far. wow that was fast, Mike. Glad you're digging disc 1.
