Morning listening, inspired by the above: On a different note, guitarist Vernon Reid was for a long time the best thing about the late Twitter. A huge musical brain, very generous and ecumenical, without losing his conscious sense of what he was doing.

Supposedly, the reason that hardcore band Black Flag had such weird / terrible guitar solos on their later records is because guitarist Greg Ginn was obsessed with playing in a ‘harmolodic’ style. As a kid I couldn’t understand what that meant because I assumed harmolodic referred to the more familiar style of Coleman’s acoustic Atlantic era. It was only after I had heard Ulmer and the Decoding Society etc that I realised what Ginn thought he was referring to. Of course, Ginn never did get there.

Just bought Fanfare by the Art Ensemble and live at Willisau by the Brotherhood of Breath. @mjazzg - Further East London news. I'm afraid OTO has now started to sell second hand jazz vinyl at a fairly reasonably price, apparently via a connection in Japan. Some seriously good stuff.

Science Fiction is a great album, but part of me does wonder whether Broken Shadows is not the superior of the two records. I certainly prefer the CD reissue that combines the two, which is where I first heard them.

I just lean them against the dust shield. It doesn't work for gatefolds, though. I've been taking these for a few years and posting them on Twitter. Since I've started trying to wean myself off social media I thought I could post them here instead.

They are a huge sink for time.

Listening out of interest only, really, although the truth is that this record is not that bad. Certainly better than the studio albums. Catchy, in sections.

I think that this is my favourite Teagarden. At least this is the one that I fell in love with.

Stan Levey – Grand Stan Blue Mitchell – Blue's Moods Both from Flashbacks on the Essex Road in London, which appears to have recently bought a large collection of bop stuff from. 50s-90s and is selling it off at pretty good prices. Worth checking out for any Londoners in here.
