  1. Howdy Y'all, I'm almost as hooked on Bear Family as I am on Mosaic. I'm a big fan of Capital Records 50's country albums. I've been trying to pick up the Bear Family releases that cover this interest. So far, my favorite is the Speedy West/Jimmy Bryant "Flaming Guitars" set. I'm sure you guys have heard just about everything, but if you haven't heard Jimmy Bryant, you're missing out.
  2. I miss it too. It's a drag that the membership has splintered. It's too bad we couldn't stick together. Heck, I even miss the fights in the political forum.
  3. My wife is always trying to talk me into moving to Dallas (she used to live there). Here's one more point in her favor! I've really become a fan of Mr. Ivery.
  4. Right now, I'm listening to Johnny Cash's newest album. It's better than I expected. I saw him on Larry King recently and he's gone through hell. I hope he sticks around for a while.
  5. For all you Spinal Tap fans. This is a diary that has been kept by a recording engineer doing a session for a rock band. It is a very funny read. It was originally posted as daily posts in the www.prosoundweb.com forums. It has been inactive for a little while, so if you get hooked reading it, know in advance that it is ongoing. The Daily Adventures of Mixerman
  6. I've been listening to him quite a bit lately. I first heard of him on a thread on the BNBB about players who BN should sign. I think it was Kevin B who mentioned him. Thanks to half.com, I was able to pick up his 3 cds on the Leaning House label a while back. The allmusic site says he's from Dallas. Do you guys know anything about him, or any other cds he has or plays on?
  7. Jim, I hope your son is doing better, too! I have a 19 month old who has been sick lately. I didn't realize it would be this tough. I like this forum too. I'm going to be going back and forth for a while. FYI - They have created the forums for the AAJ board, but their won't be a forum for politics or religion to be discussed (though, I'm glad about religion not being discussed). I think this might play a part in deciding the destination for many.
  8. Howdy all, I'm still torn between AAJ and here. I too feel really bad about invading their space and then just taking off. I think that is what has mainly kept me over there. I've never been that comfortable with the Jazz Corner Speakeasy. I have been checking it out this week. It seems as if the initial surge at AAJ is petering off. I'm not seeing as many Blue Note members in the last day or so. I wonder where everybody is? I was really pissed off yesterday at some of the posts over there, but I've calmed down. I'm trying to have a good attitude. Mike (the AAJ boardmaster) has created the new forums. It will be interesting to see what difference that makes over there.
  9. Parkertown, I picked up Gerry Mulligan & The Concert Jazz Band - Live at the Village Vanguard this week. I'd heard a lot of good things about the Concert Jazz Band. They weren't lying. It's good stuff
  10. It's weird. I've been at the BNBB almost every day since June '99 (though I didn't post that often). What a waste. I wish there was a way to take all the threads and move them somewhere safe. I know there isn't and it's a drag. I guess I thought it would always be there. This makes me feel like I need to get off the computer and do something that will last.
  11. I have created a poll for the original AAJ members. I asked them if they wanted us to stay or to go.
  12. I just read that thread. I'm floored. I was so pissed off, I couldn't even respond. I would have been thrown off the board for saying what I felt. I'd be happy to stay right here.
  13. Jazzmoose, You're probably right. I'll just continue to keep two browsers open.
  14. I think this is a great board. The only problem for me is that we've already set up camp over there. I don't want them to make a bunch of changes to their board and then have us ditch them. I will go whereever the group decides. My only concern is getting new people to this board. I followed the Harlem board a couple years ago and after an influx of new blood, it just died off a couple months later. Maybe we should take a poll at the allaboutjazz board to see where we should go. Heck, maybe we should take a poll over there of their original members and see if they want us to go.
  15. Have you seen the Mad TV spoof of the Viagra commercial. The guy walks around knocking things off desks and knocking over glasses. It was pretty funny. Everytime I see the regular commercial, I can't help but think of the spoof. My wife wondered why I keep laughing at it.
  16. So, what is this website the guy found?
  17. B3-er, Nice work! Now I'll have two browsers open. One for here and one for the AAJ forum. Thanks again for the link to this board software! I'm going to set my board up this weekend.
