  1. Yep, this survey is pretty strange, I mean that if you want an apartment in the historic city center of place like Rome or Florence, you can easily reach 10,000 euros per square meter, now if you consider it in dollar and feet, well...
  2. I wholeheartedly agree.
  3. Thanks.
  4. Yep, as Gary Lineker pointed out: "Football is where 22 players run round after the ball and at the end the Germans always win". Isn't that just true ! They should just stick to building great cars and turntables. Add motorbikes to your list.
  5. Nope, but I'd like to.
  6. Ludwig Van Beethoven - Symphonies 1 and 2 , Boehm, Wiener Philarmoniker, DG box set.
  7. Yes, though, a part RCA and Mercury Living Presence like this http://store.acousticsounds.com/browse_det...?Title_ID=14235, I prefer to go for cheaper used originals. BTW Those Speaker Corner's reissues sound excellent.
  8. Teddy Charles - Word From Bird - Atlantic, mono black label. edit: Who was to blame for the Jarretesque mumbling? Teddy Charles?
  9. Yep, as Gary Lineker pointed out: "Football is where 22 players run round after the ball and at the end the Germans always win".
  10. I believe it, those Deccas 'bargain series' like 'Ace of Diamonds' always sound excellent. And what about Ansermet? One of the greatest IMHO.
  11. Forgot the loudspeakers, probably the most critical gear for humidity and enviromental conditions. (the foam of the speakers and the wood of the case are more fragile then one usually think). Keep them in a dry place and avoid big range of temperature. Tighten carefully the screws that match the components, woofer and tweeters, to the case, after a long period of inactivity. It's a good thing to check the screws regularly, in a wood case they tend to lose because of vibration. Now, for that ribs, it happened I just got some good red wine in my cellar...
  12. I'll got it, I am heading my motorbike to Nordkapp at the end of June.
  13. Ah! Yes, but I am italian so I'll pass on it....
  14. The Doors - Absolutely Live - Elektra, japan pressing
  15. One of these http://www.jazzdisco.org/prestige/mdsv-cat/a/ ?
  16. That's been my experience too. Those early ones (the Monks, Herbie Nichols, Brownie etc.) are usually immaculate. I had to request a replacement LP on the Miles Blackhawk set but of course the great people at Mosaic sent a replacement out pronto. I think that's the only time I've ever had a flawed LP from Mosaic, a fantastic QA performance from them. Yep, they have a great customer service. On the Davis's sets I found minor flaws, small ticks usually, nothing serious enough to push me to ask for a replacemet. For instance the Nichols is absolutely perfect after a cleaning cycle. And, despite 'digital transfers' from Ron McMaster, it sounds very good.
  17. Herbie Nichols' Blue Note Recordings, Mosaic. It might well be that today's pressings are worse. Listening to early Mosaic, bought used, I rarely found pressing flaw, on the contrary I found much more. minor, flaws in the most recent Mosaic, aka, Miles Davis's box sets.
  18. Agree, in this case it might be useful to keep the amp/preamp in the house switched on for two or three hours, once in a while. The heat from the tubes will dry humidity. BTW I'd go for the same treatment with Solid State gear, included CD player. About TT, I'd keep it in dry safe place, dissasembled, expecially if it has a wood chassy, like LP12, Thorens or Sota. I'd remove the liquid in the bearing as well.
  19. At this point, avoid sauces in order to prevent further damage to tubes.
  20. No problem, as far as you don't made BBQ in the garage.
  21. Have a bigger one!
  22. I thought that was a $300 record on a good day! Shit... You thought good !! but the market is insane! and the Esquire sounds better ! Probably, because those no DG New Jazz often have a very important hisssssssssssss Yessssssssssssssss. And Prestige's pressing toooooooooooooooooooooo.
