The reason I ask, in the Clifford Brown's appearance on the Soupy Sales show, Soupy mentions to the audience that "Clifford and Max appear in the new movie Carmen Jones." I have not seen this movie and wondered if Clifford is actually on screen or just heard playing the trumpet. I will need to find this movie so I can watch and see for myself. The Soupy 3 minute clip I thought was the only known film of Clifford Brown.

Anyone here see the film "Carmen Jones" from 1954? What was Max Roach and Clifford Brown's part in this movie? Reading a blog it states that both Roach and Brown are in this movie. It can't be with them playing, since there is only one known 3 minute film of Clifford Brown on the Soupy Sales show.

Thanks for the thought. If it was my own music it might be a possibility. But Horace's publishing company would deserve a mechanical royalty, the musicians would need to be all in agreement on compensation, the recording would have to be CD release quality, etc. etc. Then again if Blue Note wants to record us.... In the meantime you can always buy one of my previous releases! Bluenote or some record company should record this band. You guys were smoking.
