BTW...since this is a male kitty, get him neutered ASAP! Male cats will pee to mark out their territory, but this will decline when they no longer have the, um..."urge to merge", you might say.

As luck would have it, we have a kitten right now, too. And as a cat owner of some 40 years, I have a little experience which might help. Keep placing the kitten in the litter box over and over. Eventually she/he will get it. Also, get a good carpet cleaner and clean the spot she/her peed/pooped. Then apply a scent immobilizer. Ask your vet or pet store owner; they will have product to sell you. Otherwise, the cat will return to the same place to pee/poop over and again. Best advice I can offer is you need to give the kitten a lot of positive reinforcement [good Kitty] and monitor her/him very closely...almost like you would with a small child. Be very hands-on and redirect the kitten to play with something [cat toy, etc] to occupy her/his attention. I highly recommend a cat scratcher. Whisker City offers some really nice cat stuff that keeps our kitten from getting into too much trouble. Also, get her/him on "voice command" ASAP. Use a higher pitched voice to call your kitty and a lower, sterner voice when she/he is screwing up. Food or cat treats are a great motivator/reinforcer. Dry cat food is best; you can leave it out all day. Make sure the water dish is emptied then refilled daily...keeps them out of the toilets. A squirt of water from a spray bottle works wonders. Trust me. Good luck!

A tall, frosty glass of ice tea. Yum! -
Any bets on how long it will take for Manny to wear out his welcome in LaLa Land? I couldn't help but notice he still had long, natty dreads...hm.

Good luck with that. Those OFs who can hit ain't going nowhere. My figuring is if you guys hate Manny that much, unload his ass on SF. He's gone, you're happy. Otherwise, I think the BoSox fans/front office/his agent need to STFU....or are full of shit. Or you are using him to get to the playoffs. Either way, the BoSox are either myopic or moronic. Always a pleasure trying to have a conversation with you. Hey, don't get mad...none of this was directed at you. sheesh

Zzzzzzz...humph. Did somebody say 5.4? Wake me up when you get to 7.....

Tyler Walker? He [pretends] to pitch for the Giants. I think you have your wires crossed, Dan.

A couple of guys see a dog in the street licking himself. One of the guys says, "Gee, I wish I could do that." Other guy says, "You should probably pet him first."

Manny Ramirez wants to be traded because the BoSox don't want him any more...??? Fine. Trade him to San Francisco. Hell, somebody has to be there to make up for the piss poor pitching. Barry Zito is busily walking in runs [in July...fucking July?] and Tyler Walker couldn't get a third strike if his very life depended on it. Is there no end to the insanity?

Saturday, I went to the Giants game and watched in abject horror as Tyler "second coming of Felix Rodriguez" Walker proceeded to give away Lincecum's gem of a game back to the D'Backs. 13 Ks and all for naught....this after Rowand laced a two-run single to take the lead in the bottom of the 7th. The SF bullpen is as useless as teats on a bull. Dave Righetti must die.

It's now 16-8, Dodgers, in the ninth inning........and only ONE home run! 16-10 was the final and the Dodgers think they're going somewhere...?

Hey, c'mon, Dan. BoSox gotta lose once in a while. Maybe they could have actually beat the Yonkers and solved that problem, eh?

Add my name to the list of well wishers, Bruce. Keep up the good fight!

Oh absolutely. I agree. I just don't see too many guys out there any more blowing them by hitters as their only go-to pitch. Most good pitchers have at least a couple bread-and-butter pitches they can rely on, because if they didn't...they'd be pitching in Triple A.

Uh, 91 is major league average FB. 91 gets hit if its in the wrong place. 97 doesn't get hit as often, whether its in the wrong place or the right place. Placement of the pitch and movement on the ball keeps hitters from hitting it, Dan. Lincecum is successful because of that control. If you groove a 97 mph FB, it is going to get sent into the next area code. Hitters see the ball way better now than they used to. Guys like Ramiez, for example, are untouchable becuse they have superior control over the flight of the ball. Ramirez keeps hitters guessing and off-balance and when he does blow one by them, it is because he set the hitter up beforehand. Just ask the BoSox or D'Backs hitters if Rameriz can be hit. The playoffs and WS prove that one out. Ramirez was throwing gas but over the plate. Same goes with any hard thrower. Nolan Ryan is another great example. Speed's got very little to do with it these days.
-
BTW...over the weekend I read an LA Times article wherein they pointed out Tim Lincecum's velocity has diminished. Yeah, he's only throwing 91 mph FBs as opposed to 97 mph FBs Idiots.

If we have to do it this way then I would agree. I'm old school...the team with the best record should be given home field, IMHO.

Oooo. I want that recipe! The salmon was something my girlfriend picked up at Trader Joe's. The salmon itself was alright, but I wasn't too impressed with the spinach florentine stuffing. Oh well, she wanted to try it. Rachel, Your Inbox is full....but I wanted to thank you for the recipe you sent me. It looks like a wonderful recipe and I can't wait to give it a go! BTW, by return favor, we tried a new recipe of sort ourselves last night courtesy Alton Brown of "Good Eats". It was most excellent, too! And here it is: Salmon Fillet en Papillote with Julienne Vegetable 1/3 cup julienned fennel bulb 1/3 cup julienned leeks, white part only 1/3 cup julienned carrots 1/3 cup julienned snow peas 1 teaspoon salt 1/8 teaspoon freshly ground black pepper 1/8 teaspoon whole coriander seed, ground fine 1 (8-ounce) salmon fillet, pin bones removed 1 orange cut into wedges with white, pithy membrane removed 1 tablespoon dry vermouth Take a 15 by 36-inch piece of parchment paper and fold in 1/2 like a book. Draw a large 1/2 heart on paper with fold of paper being the center of the heart. Cut out heart and open. Lay fennel, leeks, carrots, and snow peas on parchment in center to 1 side of fold. Mix together salt, pepper, and ground coriander. Sprinkle vegetables with 1/2 of salt, pepper, and coriander. Lay salmon on top of vegetables and season with remaining salt, pepper and coriander. Top with the orange wedges and sprinkle with vermouth. Fold other side of heart over fish and starting at top of heart shape, fold up both edges of parchment, overlapping folds as you move along. Once you reach the end tip, twist several times to secure tightly. Place on microwave safe plate and cook for 4 minutes, on high in microwave, or until fish reaches 131 degrees. Open parchment carefully and serve for a complete meal. Note: We substituted our own favorite vegies; Sugar snap peas, baby carrots and bean sprouts. We used lemon instead of oranges. Instead of black pepper and corriander we used Lawry's Seasoned Pepper. No vermouth. Tasted great! Thanks again, Tim
