  1. I just have a few long listening sessions over the Easter Holidays and check out my BN CDs. I did not make any A/B comparison as it is not my priority to "upgrade" from the McMaster 80s CDs to RVG ones. I do find the the piano sound a little better on the RVG but the RVG is way too "LOUD". For me, I enjoy BN bringing out the Conn Series rather than RVG redoing the titles already reissued.
  2. The sound is very good. Contents wise, I like the Complete Galaxy Box more. More fire and more urgent
  3. Although I have most of the individual CDs (Lare 80s & early 90s), I am tempted to det this 8CDs Box. Any opinion of the sound as compared with the individual CDs?
  4. Thanks for the information. Of course, Juliette won hands down on her looks. So long, Buddy.
  5. I got the box. This box is in fact my first Morsaic purchase (along with Duke Reprise Box - a double purchase). Great music and I am a satisfied customer.
  6. Greco is a French actress & singer who was with Miles Davis for a while in the 60s. Just come across a 18 CDs box from France. Anyone has any comments on Greco as a singer?
  7. Thanks, Blake, you got the right box. I have listened to Disc 1 and Disc 4. The sound is varied but OK. Charlie played brilliantly as usual. Got it in Hong Kong for US$23.00. Who own the rights to to these booardcast anyway?
  8. I just bought this Box Set (Charly - 4 CDs) second hand. Any comments from fellow forum members?
  9. I think all of us should have an open mind for packaging which is beyong the norm. While I don't like the rusty Bill Evan's Verve Box, the Herbie Hancock Box looks super and cool and IS FUN. For all of us forum members who are jazz fanatics, "something different" is always welcome. Is it not the case that we were drawn into jazz in the first place because of the improvisation? Don't be so narrow minded, folks.
  10. One of my major purchase in 2004 in John Mclaughlin Live in Contreaux Box (18 CDs from 70s to the end of the 20th Century). The JJ Box materials shows his artistic matury even at the beginning of his career. Both Boxes are fantastic. John is my top living guitarist and ranks equallly with Charlie and Wes.
  11. Speaking of Indress, I have just bought second hand the CD "Roots" (Riverside CD), an early 60s recordings (no leader) which featured Indress. Very nice.
  12. Picked up the JJ Set 2 weeks ago after a few months of deliberation. I never like tMiles 70s "electric" output. But boy, what a fantastic set to enjoy Miles and J McLaughlin playing at the absolute peak of their power. The "riffs" are contemporary and modern. I can really say all the hip hop/ acid jazz stuff was invented here . For the record, my favourite jazz period are the acoustic jazz from the 50s to mis 60s
  13. I just picked up this Japan GOLD DISC Box Set second hand containing the Savoy Studio Recordings as well as the Royal Roost Live Recordings (Limited Edition). It was issued in 1992. The Sound is better than the 1992 Denon studio Savoy indiuvidual Re-issues. I won't invest on the new Savoy & Dial Studio Box Set & the Savoy Live Box Set but am interetsed to know the sonic comparsion between them.
  14. Guys, I have this reissue. A p-roper BN Reissue
  15. I picked up the Mulligan Concert Band box in Taiwan which are widely available at US%%. I am not a very big fan of Mulligan over the last few years but this box proves me wrong. Both the music and the sound are exquisite. Bob is the arranger and a major part of the credit must go towards him. I have no hestitation to recommend this box. Besides, a majoity of the tracks had not been reissued. Highly recommended. I only had two other M Boxes - O'Day and Duke. I love the O'Day and was listening to it last evening. Still, the Mulligan Box should be rated higher. As for the other BN artists, they will be further down the ladder for me. Don't get me wrong, I am a big fan of BN but I had got all the reissued CDs of the individual artists concerned and I will prefer to reserve my ammunition for new reissed stuff.
