  1. Actually, this was recorded. It was posted on one of those bit torrent sites. I heard Hank was on fire with his solos. Only wish I had a copy.

    Jimmy Scott

He doesn't do anything for me. Close your eyes and his voice is too high more my taste. Sorry. I saw him at the J&R show and no one seemed to want to listen.
  5. Dan, the music is enough. I really don't need a copy of the album jacket. Thanks for the offer.
  6. I have a very bad copy of the record with lots of pops. I don't even have the album cover. I found it at http://www.djangomusic.com

    MP3 question

If a recording is a MP3, will converting it back to wave increase the sound quality, or once it is a MP3 there's no way to return what was lost?
  10. If something gives you pleasure, why try to kick the habit? That's what I say. Buy more so you can't ever have a chance to think about stopping. You'll be too busy listening to the music.
  11. List your duds here. Lou Donaldson's "Color is a way of Life" This ine was real bad. Jackie McLean's "Monuments" Took Jackie 9 years to bounce back fomr this one.
  12. Here are to more cats that spent a good time of their careers in Paris, Don Byas and Ben Webster.
  13. Why was Paris so hip to so many jazz artists in the 40's-70's? This may sounds like a dumb question to ask, but I'm asking away. Here are two examples: Bud Powell, Dexter Gordon. There are hords of more.
  14. Et Cetera! How could this sit in the vaults for so many years? It is great.
  15. If I remember correctly, I was doing a search on the Three Sounds and for sale. And this placed showed up in the first page.
  16. Do you have a favorite jazz artists? I would like to see if other member's replies would be similar to one another. Mine would be in this order, yeah, I know I said only your favorite, which implies just one, but here are my 3 favorites. Hard to have just one. John Coltrane Horace Silver The Three Sounds.
  17. I was doing a search on an album. Trying to find where I could buy it. And one of the hits that came back was for this place. I usually just read what people ost instead of writting myself. Most of what I would ask already is floating around this board.

    Three Sounds

Can someone tell me what web sites I might fiond their stuff for sale? I had tried towerrecords.com. Ordered but they were not able to deliver on the special offers.
  21. I saw Jimmy Smith not that long ago in Chicago. I was up front and he saw me smiling at him. He yelled down towards me and said, "What the f^$# you smiling at? I'll come down there smack you up side your head." My wife leaned over and asked me if he was talking to me. I said yes, and Jimmy still looking at us yelled back, "I'll smack your bitch too." I laugh at it now. I don't think I'll go and see him ever again. I am paying to hear you play, If I want to be insulted, I'll go see Don Rickels.
