  6. I'd want to say goodbye to people I love and care about. Screw music. I've listened to enough in my lifetime.

  9. I guess we've done similar things, but reading the BBC Desert Island Discs thread made me think that we could do it again. I've never heard the show (although one of the responses to the thread provides a link to archived programs: http://www.bbc.co.uk/radio4/features/desert-island-discs/find-a-castaway). The premise is to choose and discuss the eight records you’d take with you were you to be shipwrecked on a distant isle. And the choices seem to be limited to individual cuts, not entire albums. I think it would interesting and perhaps even fun (we can all use some of that) to try it here. I'd have to think a bit about my choices, but the thread is here, if anyone's interested.
  10. I understand what you're saying and that's all that matters. Your English is much better than my Italian.

  13. I love the 1963 recordings with Grachan Moncur III and Bobby Hutcherson and have wondered why he moved back into conventional hard bop settings. Perhaps record company pressure, fans' expectations? Perhaps I'm in a minority, but I was sorry he made a move back to conventionality.

  16. It's only been a day, not a week, since I posted here, but what the hey. "Without a Song" from The Persuasions: Spread the Word (Capitol) If The Persuasions had never recorded anything except this, it would be fine with me. It's that perfect. Plus it holds a special memory for me. I heard The Persuasions in concert in 2003 - I believe that it was one of the last performances by the original group (minus Toubo Rhoad, who passed in 1988) and perhaps it was their last performance together. After the concert, they were signing autographs. I had a couple of LP jackets and all of the members of the group except for Joe Russell signed them. Joe was wandering about, talking with fans. When I caught up with him, I mentioned that "Without a Song" was my favorite of all of the songs they'd recorded. He immediately lit up with a big smile, hugged me (and Joe was a big guy, so it was a real bear hug), and said that it was his favorite also. His response seemed completely real and I felt good about that.
