  11. I was listening to Trombolenium this morning and decided to revisit this thread shortly afterward. Started me thinking about Mr. Rutherford and other musicians who have dedicated their lives to music and have received few financial rewards. I know that I owe each of them more than I can repay. Reading Clifford's interview with Paul Rutherford http://www.allaboutjazz.com/php/article.php?id=22016 was moving and saddening at times.
  12. I did add "bad" to the word messy. I could have said evil.

  14. Perhaps we do need a reminder that life can be messy - even bad at times. Just a thought. I'm sure many won't agree.
  15. I had never heard of the Harlem stoop photograph until I saw Ms. Bach's film. So I thank her for that.

  20. I bought the Flying Dutchman LP when it first released. Remember looking at the audience photos and wondering if any of them were "famous" folk in the music world. Haven't listened to it in probably 20 years.

  22. Sorry, Paul, just live material and material Avakian "faked" to seem live. So no Louis and Lenya, no W. C. Handy, no Satch Plays Fats or anything that was strictly a studio date. Ricky My bad - missed the "live" part.
  23. Perhaps I missed a mention of it, but what about the studio outtake of Louis and Lotte Lenya doing "Mack the Knife"?
