  1. I explained my statement further and elaborated later on in that thread.
  2. Yeah it was Huey, Dewey, and Louie, but Jim left off with Dewey, so I had to mix it up.
  3. Happy Birthday, Tom!
  4. A classic period for JB
  5. Nate Chinen's writing for the NY Times didn't do anything for me, and the reviews I've read don't lead me to think that there will be anything in this book to change my opinion. I see that there are copies on order from our local library system, so I'll probably take a look at the book at some point, but my expectations are low.
  6. I think that the book is a good documentation of what was a messy scene. I can't imagine a much better job being done, considering the mass of unorganized material that had to be collated. I also think that the nitpicking that's been posted here has ignored the positive qualities of the book.
  7. Amazing that someone who was in poor health and perhaps knew that the end was near wouldn't have a will.
  8. Mance Lipscomb: Trouble in Mind
  9. Marion Brown - Gunter Hampel: Reeds 'n Vibes (IAI)
  10. Miles Dewey Davis III Huey Long Louie De Palma
  11. Forgot that. A good one by Guy.
  12. I have the original ESP LP. The CD I posted contains the material on the LP, and I've kept the CD because I like the cover graphics. There was a time, probably not long ago, when I'd have picked up the issue you posted in order to have it all, but those days are gone for me. I have enough already.
  13. Marion Brown Quartet
  14. Music from the World - Mali: Ancient Strings (Buda)
  15. The Gene Ammons Story - The 78 Era
  16. I have a number of Friedlander's books on my shelves and saw a good pairing of some of his New Orleans photographs, along with some of Milt Hinton's photographs at the Yale University Museum about four years ago.
  17. Good record. Lee Friedlander's photographs graced a number of Atlantic covers in the 50's-60's. He has a reputation as a fine photographer outside of the music world.
  18. Wasn't familiar with this band. Listened to some tunes on YouTube and they're very good. Thanks for the introduction.
  19. Lee Friedlander photograph
  20. Johnny "Guitar" Warson: Gangster of Love
