Yeah, but I suspect he'd be treated as a 'first time offender'. What a f-ed up world we live in when OJ is a "first time" offender. This was armed robbery and that usually means double the time. First offender or not, if he did it, he should be facing time. On the other hand, this is OJ and this is a fucked up world....

Shit, this is all news to me. It would be nice to see him serve a little time. LAS VEGAS (Reuters) - Las Vegas police are questioning football star O.J. Simpson and he is expected to be charged in connection with last week's alleged armed robbery at a hotel room in the U.S. gambling capital, a top law enforcement official said on Sunday. "We're arresting him for probable cause," the official, who asked not to be named. "He's at our detective center right now being questioned," the official told Reuters. "He's not yet booked into the Clark County Detention Center at this time." CNN and Fox News reported that Simpson would be arraigned on Monday. Las Vegas police spokesman Lt. Jeff Whitehead said police had arrested another man they believe was with the former star athlete during the alleged break-in. Whitehead declined to comment on reports that police seized two firearms related to the Thursday night incident, which was reported by a sports memorabilia dealer as an armed robbery in his room at the Palace Station Hotel & Casino. Representatives for the Palms and Simpson's attorney did not immediately respond to requests for comment. O.J. Simpson has previously told police and the media that he did nothing wrong in Las Vegas. "I'm not walking around feeling sad or anything. I've done nothing wrong," the former athlete, actor and murder defendant said in an interview published in the Los Angeles Times on Sunday. In 1995, Simpson was acquitted of murdering his ex-wife and her friend in what was one of the most sensational court dramas in U.S. history. Simpson told the paper that "golfing buddies and some of their friends" accompanied him to a meeting at the Palace Station Hotel & Casino to help him retrieve sports memorabilia, personal photos and other items he said had been stolen by a former sports agent. Simpson, who is 60 and lives in Florida, said an auctioneer set up the meeting with the sellers. He said the men in his party were unarmed. "I'm O.J. Simpson. How am I going to think that I'm going to rob somebody and get away with it?" he said. "You've got to understand, this ain't somebody going to steal somebody's drugs or something like that. This is somebody going to get his private (belongings) back. That's it. That's not robbery." After he was acquitted in the murders of Nicole Brown Simpson and Ron Goldman, a civil court jury found Simpson responsible for the deaths and ordered him to pay $33.5 million in damages to their families. The former National Football League star, who also appeared in films and commercials, has had other minor brushes with police since 1995. He could not immediately be reached for comment. Simpson's latest legal flap comes as Simpson's book "If I Did It," which includes a hypothetical account of his ex-wife's murder, was hitting store shelves.

How did you guys meet your significant other?
catesta replied to trane_fanatic's topic in Miscellaneous - Non-Political
I hired her back in 2000 as an office assistant. I was heading towards divorce as was she, and you know what they say, shit happens. We clicked, what else can I say? I've yet to pull the trigger on a second marriage, but all is good at work and home. Maybe it's just a matter of time. -
Ditto!

Grilled cheekin ain't nothing new here, but that concoction sounds worth trying. I'm not getting too excited though, it's probably like most fast food stuff, sounds much better'n it tastes. NC is a prime market for El Pollo Loco because we have the fastest growing Hispanic population in the US. Where ever there is a large Hispanic population you can always find the real deal at one of those little hole in wall places where the dude is working a huge smoking grill out in front. -

Maybe in NY, but the El Pollo Loco out here is pretty yummy imo; i much prefer it to some of the others, both locals and chains. No El Pollo Loco in NY. The only time I've ever had it was out west and I was not impressed, maybe it was the cook. -

It is a bit on the ridiculous side to imply grilled chicken is a new phenomenon never seen before in the south. So, will he now write a story about Popeyes or KFC fighitng back and opening more stores in San Diego? Most fast food is crap and should be avoided anyways. El Pollo Loco is no exception with the flavorless garbage they're selling. If you want good fried or grilled chicken, make it yourself, or go to a locally owned independant joint. -
Happy Birthday, Dan.

ding! granted, you probably want a serious dude as discographer (or air traffic controller or brain surgeon) but Fitzy-- he loved it when we called him "Fitzy"-- wasn't noted for his broad sense of humours. as for other quietus, quietude, quiet-o-rama wife swapping ssssSSSSSHHH!! etc: for a mostly teh jass board we done said most of what's interesting which doesn't mean we done it all or can't go deeper but ... it's a relatively limited field & not so compelling to some of The Titans. at the same time, we don't wanna trample teh jass enthusiasm of others, except maybe when kids is wrong, or ig'nant, otherwise... they gotta learn thing on their own & since this ain't a paid gig anymore... also, take as an example to the reductio ad absurdum of that thread on 45 rpm gatefold Blue Notes lps-- hey, why not go all the way & make 'em 78s?, w/folio albums festooned a la Woolf? might be cool, might be ridiculous it's easy to see why some folks' attentions would drift elsewhere, to edc, his like and unlike (i'll strart a Fud Livingston thread in artists soon, promise) Rightly or wrongly; for better or for worse; yada yada.....this appears to have become a common sentiment around these parts. I have noticed on occcasion that a relatively new poster will bring up a topic to discuss and will be hit by the third response with something like, " Use the search option...link link link....... or a little more gentle version..." I think this has been discussed....here, here, and here... It is almost like no one even wants to discuss jazz anymore....I appreciate that many of the topics here can become repetitive at times, but....geez..... There is some remarkable expertise around here and I for one really enjoy the input from the TITANS as they are described above. Many of the names who have contributed to THIS thread have been around a long, long time. I hope those who are bored and think that they have nothing left to say will return and contribute again. It seems to me, however, if we continue to run off the new guys and the old guys get bored and leave, it won't be long before the Big "o" dies a slow death. That is not something that many of us would want, I think. Maybe we need to invite the guys at Blue Note back. As long as people could hurl insults in their direction there was never a lack of interest! (sarcasm intended) .... just my 2 cents..... I don't mind people starting threads on topics or artists disussed before. There is always the chance new information, experiences or stories come out.

Hope it was a fine day.

skeith, like the guys above are saying, the feedback comments are always there they just age with the more transactions you do.

Best wishes to all those celebrating.

So Mike Peterson, beer bottle newsletter editor, spelled the name of the beer wrong in the first auction? No, Mike Peterson was not the seller in the first auction. It just turns out he auctioned off an 1875 bottle in June and collectordan was the buyer, but that bottle was legit.
-
This is the 1875 bottle. And apologies on my previous post for writing 1872 instead of 1852.
-
Just as I thought, the ebay forums tell the story. Sorry, dudes. If you feel like checking you will see collectordan purchased an 1875 bottle of Artic Ale from a dude named Michael Peterson, This is his post about the 1872 bottle on ebay... I am Mike Peterson, seller of the 1875 Arctic Ale. I am also formerly newsletter editor of the newsletter of the Association of Bottled Beer Collectors. While it is impossible from a photograph, to say with certainty whether the 1852 Arctic Ale is a fake, I am sure it is. Labels were rarely put on bottles in the 1850s, they were just coming into use. The label states that the 'red hand' is a trade mark. This trade mark was not registered until 1878. The bottle looks wrong. It looks like one manufactured around 1880 to 1920 or so. The wax seal is inappropriate for a bottled beer which has to survive Arctic conditions. A corked bottle with a lead seal is the only effective method of sealing against Arctic conditions available in the 1850s. I hope that helps. I have to wonder whether or not this is bullshit. The winning bidder appears to be a metal head with a short history of buying/selling mainly rock related shit. No previous bids than launches the huge winner at the end. And why no feedback on this transaction for either party? Makes me wonder if the deal ever happened.
-
Good for him! Now, would it kill him to stop by and say hello? I mean really, this silent treatment is both rude and childish.
-
I could be wrong but I think the negative feedback hurts sellers more than buyers. Either way I don't think any of it means all that much. If it was me, the comments would stay as they are.

I think I've shared this before, but I'll say it again. In my opinion, if the place seems less active and more quiet, it is probably a direct result of what happens when you lose people like we are speaking of in this thread. With them goes a lot of the jokes, jibes, personalities, and character. What did Robert Plant say? Oh yeah, "does anyone remember laughter"?

Weizen is "taking a break" but should return. I believe he's also been away on vacation for several weeks. Are there specific reasons why Todd, Michael, and others haven't been around - i.e. why they don't like us anymore - or has life simply gotten in the way of their free time? I certainly understand the latter - there are several boards that I have dropped over the years due to the waning of interests and the lack of time - but if it's someone or something about this place that's irked them and/or driven them away I'd be curious to know what it so that we might be able to address their concerns. Out to Lunch had some health issues. I'd hope (and understand ) that in his case he just got tired of the place rather than an illness getting over on him.

Yeah, that could be a long list.

I've not had any contact with him for several months, but last time he mentioned he was just very busy.
