I have an mp3 of a Brazilian band called Apolo 11, called Apolo 11. I assume it's from around that time point.

Quite happy to have discovered earlier this week that these two titles had recently been reissued in Japan:
Thanks for the reminder. I ordered them too. Don't know what the second was, but I took Live and Quintet in Chicago. With Trane.

To me the noirest of jazz records is Miles Davis' soundtrack to Ascenseur sur l'echafaud.

We've been hitting 101-105 the last few days. And it's just mid-June. The worst is to come I'll be catching a sweat wave soon enough.
Here (Mediterranian Coast) it's blindingly (around 40C) hot lately and specially now. So much that it's impossible to stay at home and people get out or to the beach, where they stay until 21.00 or later.

Saw Elvis yesterday, the Baz Luhrman movie. Can't say I enjoyed it too much as I also deeply dislike Elvis. But the film's not bad capturing the period as all Luhrman movies are (I once saw a very good one about Scott Fitzgerald and the crazy jazz twenties). So the most interesting part is the beginnings when a teenager Elvis discovers the power of black music and steals its secret. But all the rest is schlock, from the build up of Elvis' success right down to the end. What IS interesting and new is how the relationship with his manager, the infamous Colonel Parker, played by Tom Hanks, is brought to life and explained. I never knew this story of exploitation (if it's true). So only for this it's worthwhile. But stay away from it (like I wanted to do) if you're not a devoted Elvis fan. And a special mention to the actor who plays Elvis so very well. Right down to his dance moves.

Yes, it's good.

Wonderful. With Monk, Wes' brother on bass.

I think because they were first issued as 10" and when they were reissued as 12" in the 1500 series they had already Reid Miles covers. All of them do, I think.

I don't know in which measure curated by themselves, but it's a nice collection of blues and early rock and roll classics. Howlin Wolf, among them. Of course. That's the tracklist:

I like them all.
Me too. But perhaps more the first two. That's a graphic style I'm a sucker for. Magazine covers, records, posters, ads... everything.

I would say John Hermansader and pics by Wolff. At least that's what I can guess.

I've just had a look at the contents of this box (which I don't own). A great collection! I've been an enthusiast for this music
I have it and I like this style a lot. For me it's like the great mother of RnR. And I think I will give it a listen tonight. Last time is too far away. So much that I don't know where it is. But Selects are easy to detect.

Now that was an album. In the 80s I loved everything Prince. My favorite being SignOTheTimes.

That was the first song I ever heard of Tom Waits in the early 80s. But wasn't it on another album?
I remember Waits acting in the wonderful Down by Law by Jim Jarmusch, with John Lurie and Roberto Benigni. I recently saw this movie again and it's oh so good.

The Farlow bit. It was also his debut, Tal Farlow Quartet. In this release the McGhee and the Farlow sessions are tied in.

The Beatles don't mean too much to me so never understood the backlash she experienced.
That's exactly how I see it. I was always more of a Stones fan. Though I liked the Beatles too.

If you should decide to watch Tinker, Tailor, do not watch the movie but the six part series with Alec Guinness.
Thanks Brad, I've read Tinker, Tailor but haven't seen any movie.

See Agent Running in the Field and his last book, published posthumously, Silverview.
I have Silverview too. Unread. But I never knew about the connection to earlier books.
