Time frame late 1940s through early 1960s. Looks really interesting but a little earlier than my main period of interest.
I have an interesting collection I got recently of the period after this. From the mid 60s to the early 70s. It´s called Journeys in Modern Jazz: Britain. On Decca. Universal, I think.

Oh, I didn't know about that one. A great combination, for sure. And seventies Brazilian stuff is fantastic.

This is one of my favorite Selects. And it's #1, so it all started here. And I love the Hutcherson, Moncur, McLean combination, which here comes to the fore so strongly.

the only TD album he plays on is their excellent debut, Electronic Meditation
I think, but I'm almost sure, I once had Alpha Centauri, their second album, as a cassette back in the day.

I do know Ed's uncle on one side is Tim Maia
Now that I think of it, I knew that. But not about Tania Maria. I love one song of her that was on a Barclay release. Samba de Orly it's called and it's on an album called Via Brasil.

I didn't remember it when I listened to it, but when I discovered it I remembered I'd seen that before. So I was in fact surprised.

I finally found a copy of this DVD set a few months ago but haven’t gotten around to watching it, I had heard how much better it was than the oddly titled remake “Sorcerer.”
I'm not sure if I've seen it or not. Probably not. I mean the French movie. I remember about Sorcerer. Wasn't that from 1980?

I think I have him on an (excellent) Larry Young Resonance set. Recorded in Paris IIRC.

I love this set. And I was really surprised today (but knew it from before )when I discovered Ray Coniff playing trombone there. In a session by the Art Hodes Chicagoans.

Still haven't wrapped my head around the concept of living in a world where wearing a tie was something you did without thinking about it...
Very much agree with that.

Also an entire concert of Django Reinhardt with Duke Ellington. There are a few bits of their post-war tour together in the massive JSP Reinhardt collection, but not much.
On a Complete Django on Vogue set I have there's also (I think) part of the Duke with Django from their American tour of 1946 (I think). But I don't know how far that's identic to the Mosaic box, or if there's more there or on the set I have. I don't think the second applies.

This is from 2001. Loved it then and now.

What rock music are you listening to? Non-Jazz, Non-Classical.

One of the best examples of the French Sound. Whose main attraction was Daft Punk in the 90s, but there were also many more. Next year will be the 25 anniversary of the release of this one in 1998. And Air produced in 2005 or 6 555, the debut of Charlotte Gainsbourg, Serge and Jane Birkin's daughter. A very good album, by the way. Serge Gainsbourg being one of Air's big influences.
