Panasonic? I don't get it. Appears to me that the tube is more for show than go. I recall a few years ago, some mainstream home audio manufacturer stuck a couple of tubes in front windows. Tubes are fine, when used for some sonic purpose. A (one) tube in a stereo device?

I still find things along St. Marks and at Other Music from time to time. Agreed, not huge selections, but, particularly with respect to the latter, worthwhile. Forgot about Williamsburg. Two fine places, one on either side of the subway (L) stop. As for JRC, Mr. Cohen has been willing to pay things for me in the past, but generally only when significant, not his sale CDs or 'cheap' LPs.

None to add, but a few 'seconds': Jazz Record Center - best for vinyl, but some fine CDs, especially in the sale racks. Downtown Music Gallery - I wish everything was filed/shelved, but a great, great store, especially for AG/'downtown' scene. J&R for the mor common stuff. Don't think it's been mentioned, Other Music on E4th. Not a huge jazz collection, but some decent stuff, along with other ear-opening items. Finally, just cruise St. Marks.

Starbucks. On the flip-side, though as a vegan I've never eaten there, I feel considerable sympathy for the (unfairly, I believe) maligned: McDonald's

Love my 30GB Zen xtra...in part because it isn't the ubiquitous iPod. Lots of good deals on the Creative these days. $175 or so will get you a 30GB. Compare that to the Apple price.

I think you're confusing "bankruptcy" and "going out of business". Today, these are only remotely related phenomenon.

A notch below many of the recordings already IDed (and harder to find), but I was enjoying Runnin' the Gamut last night. As much as I love Moody, he does put out a sub-par album from time to time. Some of this recent stuff - tribute albums, for instance - and the album with The Television Song (anyone heard that?) Dis-com-bu-ba-late Me, Baby (sp?)

So how's the Curtis Amy other than the Katanga sessions (which I already have)?
