  1. Good to find another Murray fan here. And one of the great things about Murray is that there's just so many titles out there to listen too! The man certainly has a rich catalogue!
  2. I know that most have you have probably covered this ground before now but 2007 was the year for me to discover David Murray. Highlights: We Is: Live At The Bop Shop (with Kahil El'Zabar) Ballads For Bass Clarinet Murray's Steps Death Of A Sideman Sacred Ground And many, many more....and surely more to come in 2008!
  3. Depending on your price I'd like this one. The Pacific Jazz Bud Shank Studio Sessions. MD5-180 Serial #2570 You would truly make this one happy!
  4. Parlan is always a welcomed listen with me. But the collaboration that blew me away on MANY different levels was Parlan-Shepp. My first spins of GOIN' HOME and TROUBLE ON MIND [steeplechase] took me by pleasant surprise. I am not always a fan of duo albums but these do not disappoint.
  5. PM sent on: McCoy Tyner - The Real McCoy Hank Mobley - Thinking of Home Lee Morgan - The Procrastinator McCoy Tyner - The Real McCoy Hank Mobley - Caddy For Daddy
  6. I think the Chico set is quite fun! You never know where each tune's going to take you next. I'd be more than glad to take the Charles Brown Aladdin off of anyone's hands any day! I borrowed it from a friend a few years back and was pretty reluctant to give it back! Actually one of my favorite Mosaics.
  7. Wow! That's quite a list for 2007! Who knew! Thanks for the link. I knew it was probably in there somewhere but I couldn't find it.
  8. Last night I was spinnin' Valery Ponomarev's Profile CD on Reservoir and noticed that the 1991 session was engineered by Rudy Van Gelder. This got me to wondering what RVG has been involved with in the last decade or so. Outside of the classic recordings I can't say that I recall any others of note. Does anyone know of a web resource that lists his complete engineering efforts? Thanks! BTW..the Ponomarev CD is a great listen if you get the chance. Joe Henderson spots nicely.
