Nefertiti, the Beautiful One Has Come

Shit, mine's got more ringwear than that one!

There's another session that was released by Ingo as "The Early Unit 1962" and features some weird pick-up Danish bassist, I forget whom.

These are among my favorite Cecil LPs, if not my favorites. Lyons smokes...

Can you (or someone else) give more info on that one?

thanks,

ubu

Ubu, it's that one (from the Cecil Taylor Sessionography):

The Golden Circle, Stockholm, October, 1962

Spontaneous Improvisation 14:35

Flamingo (Gruoya-Anderson) 14:15

Cecil Taylor: piano; Jimmy Lyons: alto sax; Sunny Murray: drums; Kurt Lindgren: bass

The Early Unit 1962 Ingo (Italy) Sixteen (lp)

It's very good but the audio is way off!

Never heard of this one, thanks! Sounds cool - no matter what the audio on such stuff! I'd love to hear it!

Found some more information here:

62.10.14

October 14, 1962

Cecil Taylor-p

Jimmy Lyons-as

Kurt Lindgren-b

Sunny Murray-d

1. Announcement, Swedish

2. Spontaneous Improvisation (14:18)

3. Flamingo (13:51)

4. What's New (7:06)

Total time (35:09)

1 – 3. TV broadcast, tape

2 – 3. Ingo (Italy), Sixteen, "The Early Unit 1962", (LP)

4. In circulation as a radio broadcast.

Notes: The LP, # 2 – 3, is made from the TV broadcast.

According to Sunny Murray, it only happened once in Stockholm that a

recording session took place and as Kurt Lindgren played with the

group only 2 days, it is likely that the possible radio recording

took place on the same occasion as the TV recording. The TV broadcast

is confirmed by a notice in an article from Orkesterjournalen (SE),

November 1962.

The TV tape was reused.

The announcement is made by Bengt "Abbe" Johansson.

Primary Source: Info from Jan Ström, #4 also documented by Ed Hazell in his unpubished C. T. discography

I guess brownie, you looked on this website.

(I only found out about the other one fairly recently myself.)

I wish someone would collect all these october 62 CT dates, clean them up and release some nice little box - how about we all write some mails to Jan Ström about it?

I will check on the Jimmy Lyons sessionography I have at home.

Jan Strom is always open to suggestions but issuing those broadcasts would certainly created copyright problems and Strom is very cautious - with very good reasons - about this.
