Explain the etymological origin of your user name!

[Uncle Skid]

Mine has its origins in a tale of two brothers-in-law.

A few years ago, one of them discovered Photoshop, and all the wonderful things that you can do with that software. Well, this was one of his first efforts:

Needless to say, I have been “Skid Mark” ever since. I guess that's better than being Vanilla Ice or something like that? (maybe not!!)

Another brother-in-law (who also now has a new “rapper” identity, and his face immortalized on a slightly modified cover of Vibe magazine) rechristened me “Uncle Skid” when his twin daughters were born two years ago.

Yes, Virginia, there is a real Uncle Skid. "Ya better check yourself, 'cause Skid Mark's in da house!"

My two sisters have called me Philly for at least 30 years(My name is Philip), and Q is my last initial. I don't know the etymological origin of my last name, but it is in the dictionary, and according to those who know me, describes me beautifully!

Interesting to see Hugenot brought up. I grew up in a neighborhood off Hugenot Rd on the southside of the James River in Richmond VA!

[Upright Bill]

Mine is really difficult.

Many people think that the Upright part comes from the fact that I play Double Bass, but if that were the case I'd be Double Bill. Actually the Upright part is a random series of keystrokes I pressed when I was registering.

Bill is because my name is Bill.
