BERIGAN Posted August 29, 2004 Report Posted August 29, 2004 No, I won't argue a great artist, but not like everyone else either. Brain aneurysm. http://www.laurabranigan.com/Lauras_Passing.htm Quote
chris olivarez Posted September 9, 2004 Report Posted September 9, 2004 She was definitely different. I don't see her music ever being in my collection but I do admire her for her individual choices and damn was she ever hot!!!! Quote
Dmitry Posted September 9, 2004 Report Posted September 9, 2004 I was steamrolling into puberty when Self Control came out. Quote
bertrand Posted September 9, 2004 Report Posted September 9, 2004 Didn't she have a hit called 'Creatures Of The Night'? I don't see it on the discography page. I remember this tune because I was sitting at home in Paris in the early 80s when I got a call from a radio station - if I could identify the singer, I would win some bread. Thinking it was a joke, I cursed in response, which was probably heard on the air. Funny thing, I knew it was Laura Branigan. I wonder how much money I blew. Bertrand. Quote
JohnJ Posted September 9, 2004 Report Posted September 9, 2004 Bertrand, I think the song you are referring to is actually 'Self Control' which contains the line "I live among the creatures of the night". When I was in my early 20's I really identified with that song. Quote
chris olivarez Posted September 9, 2004 Report Posted September 9, 2004 John J you're right about the song title and even though I was older when the song came out I could relate to it too. Quote
ajf67 Posted September 9, 2004 Report Posted September 9, 2004 I just saw this. Thanks for posting it Berigan. I wasn't a big fan or anything, but I remember "Gloria." Too bad and too young. Quote
Dan Gould Posted September 9, 2004 Report Posted September 9, 2004 FWIW, last year she was cast in an off-broadway show about Janis Joplin and got killer reviews. Quote

One thing I remember about Ms. Branigan: In her videos, she always seems to be a bit challenged when it came to the dance moves. She always looked as if she'd be much more comfortable just standing there singing while others did that dance thang. A bit of a clutz... it seemed. Quote
sheldonm Posted September 9, 2004 Report Posted September 9, 2004 While not a fan of her music, she was much too young to depart....RIP. Mark Quote
