cool_blue Posted October 30, 2004 Report Posted October 30, 2004 I have seen this topic mentiond elsewhere but would really appreciate input from this board. I dont haave many, but Sonny Rollins "And The Contemporary Leaders" is a fave as well as Bill Evan's "Everyone Digs Bill Evans" and 2 Helen Humes I recently picked up while travelling. Had anyone ordered from Fantasy of late ? I have sent them a few emails and requested a catolog recently with no response. Quote

Matthew Posted October 30, 2004 Report Posted October 30, 2004 Sonny Rollings: Way Out West. Not only is it great music, but even the $9.00 lp I have is one of the best sounding lp or cds that I have. Music is clear, warm, immediate. It's like they're playing in your room. Quote
Claude Posted October 30, 2004 Report Posted October 30, 2004 I have sent them a few emails and requested a catolog recently with no response. I think their customer service is not great. But the complete catalogue can be browsed online too: http://www.fantasyjazz.com/html/catalog_main.html Quote

Well that's largely due to Roy Du Nann's great engineering for Contemporary - but the LP pressings from Fantasy I have are all good. Edited October 30, 2004 by mikeweil Quote

But the complete catalogue can be browsed online too: http://www.fantasyjazz.com/html/catalog_main.html ... and the whole catalogue is available for download as a pdf file on this page, just like I thought it should be. Since you have to look for LP issues at the bottom of each entry in the online catalogue the LPs might be easier to find in the pdf file using the search function. pryan Posted October 30, 2004 Report Posted October 30, 2004 (edited) I don't have many, but I picked up a Wardell Gray title this week called, MEMORIAL, vol. 2. Dexter Gordon appears on one cut, but it also features Sonny Clark (in his debut recording session), Clark Terry, Sonny Criss (I think), and Art Farmer. Recommended.
