Late Posted November 14, 2004 Report Posted November 14, 2004 Wow. You guys are making me jealous! Never have seen/heard Rivers live, and hope I have the chance to before either of us get too old! Quote
Alexander Hawkins Posted November 15, 2004 Report Posted November 15, 2004 What a great show . There was loads I really enjoyed , the trio came on and as the first piece was being played i remember thinking ' I NEED this tune in my life' only for Sam to announce at the end of it someting along the lines of ' that was called Impromtu , we just made that up on the spot & now that musics gone never to be heard again.' I had EXACTLY the same experience, down to the 'that was called Impromptu ['for You', I believe rounded out its title on Tuesday]' quote! Quote
sidewinder Posted November 15, 2004 Author Report Posted November 15, 2004 (edited) By the way, there's a broadcast on BBC Radio 3 this Friday afternoon of Julian Joseph in conversation with Sam Rivers (interspersed with recording selections). Should be good ! The QEH concert is also up for broadcast by the BBC sometime over the next few weeks. Wednesday's 'Impromptu' was significantly different from Friday's. I liked the Wednesday performance - very incisive, that one. A gem ! Edited November 15, 2004 by sidewinder Quote
