I was just checking out Mal's discography and ... I wouldn't be surprised if noone else had done more recordings in Japan than him. There must be at least 20-30 sessions. How come?

The late Mal Waldron's wife is a Japanese and he loved Japan. (Living in Brussels she was a photographer). Mal told me often, his wife was very jealous....

Mal loved the Japanese history, etc. etc.

Don't forget that most artists record FOR Japan and not always IN Japan. Avatar Studios, in New York, one of the busiest studios, has Japanese owership so a lot of the recording is done there fro their market.

As a example, this one by Joe Locke and Geoff Keezer, Summer Knows, on Eighty- Eights/Sony.
