chris olivarez Posted January 2, 2005 Report Posted January 2, 2005 My team,Arizona State, should have been 11-1 but they did finish well. That was some finish to the Iowa-LSU game. Quote
scottb Posted January 2, 2005 Report Posted January 2, 2005 I'm an LSU alum and that game hurts. Not because of the loss so much as the way it happened. They really played a solid game defensively except on two plays. The first TD and the last play of the game. Throw in a blocked punt for a TD and you lose a game you should've won. All the hype about Saban the last few years, you gotta wonder. There were some real questionable coaching decisions. The biggest, in my opinion, when they sent in Flynn a redshirt freshman, after a 75 yd kickoff return and a 15 yd penalty to start the drive deep in Iowa territory. They went three and out and then attempted to fake a FG which failed. So starting with the best field position you could hope for they got zilch. LSU has done this all year long, having to come from behind too many times against teams like Troy and Oregon St and Ole Miss. Quote
Big Al Posted January 2, 2005 Report Posted January 2, 2005 The Rose Bowl was quite a game! One of the most exciting games I've watched all year, college or pro. Quote
SEK Posted January 2, 2005 Report Posted January 2, 2005 The Rose Bowl was quite a game! One of the most exciting games I've watched all year, college or pro. Indeed! I do wish that it was Michigan that squeaked past, not the Longhorns. Quote
Jim Alfredson Posted January 2, 2005 Report Posted January 2, 2005 I know I should feel bad for Michigan, but I don't. Quote
SEK Posted January 3, 2005 Report Posted January 3, 2005 I know I should feel bad for Michigan, but I don't. Is it that Michigan State - University of Michigan rivalry? It reminds me of a much more intense version of the U.C.L.A. - U.S.C. rivalry that raged, at least when I was a kid. Quote

It reminds me of a much more intense version of the U.C.L.A. - U.S.C. rivalry that raged, at least when I was a kid. My take is that there some great rivalries in the Big 10, but that for Michigan, they focus more on the MI-Ohio State rivalry, and Michigan State feels left out, like a kid brother. (They think MI-Michigan State should be the real rivalry.) Of course, I went to Michigan, so I know which one really counts. I didn't watch the game, but Michigan seems to be well on its way of continuing its tradition of making it to the Rose Bowl, then choking. I can only recall actually watching them win once, though they must have done a bit better than that. Quote
