Hardbopjazz
It's a Phil Woods album form 1971. It is on NDR records. Not too familiar with NDR the catalog. I'm on Phil Woods kick, and was thinking of picking it up. Wondering if it is good session. Edited February 3, 2005 by Hardbopjazz
mikeweil
NDR is the abbreviation for Nord-Deutscher Rundfunk - North German Radio - German broadcast stations issued their own albums, but not on a regular basis. They all had their dance orchestras with jazz leanings giving many an expatriate a regular income - e.g. Herb Geller was NDR's star soloist for many years. Expect a mainstream bigband recording with Woods as a guest soloist.
mikeweil
"Jazzworkshop" BTW refers to a concert series they still have running, usually combining one or more guest soloists with their NDR big band or local musicians.
