Sundog Posted February 13, 2005 Report Posted February 13, 2005 It's been my experience that "the best" elevator music can be heard in hotel resturants during breakfast. Go figure? Quote
Guest ariceffron Posted February 13, 2005 Report Posted February 13, 2005 back in the day was music a staple of elevator travel??? Quote
JSngry Posted February 13, 2005 Report Posted February 13, 2005 Yes. Especially on trips lasting more than an hour. Quote
JSngry Posted February 13, 2005 Report Posted February 13, 2005 Seriously, I remember it as being more of an "urban" thing. I grew up in a small town. We didn't even HAVE elevators. There were a few smaller "cities" (between 30-50 K population) that had muti-storied buildings with elevators, and the REALLY fancy ones had music in the elevators. You went into someplace like Dallas, and most of the office building and department stores had it. Quote
Sundog Posted February 13, 2005 Report Posted February 13, 2005 Anyone remember the scene in "Blues Brothers" where Jake and Elwood are trying to get to the Cook County Collector's office so they can pay off the back taxes on the orphanage? The look on their faces while being subjected to that music during that elevator ride is hilarous! Quote

If they were really hip they'd have worked in St Louis Jimmy (Oden)'s Goin' Down Slow. Quote
