Guest che Posted February 23, 2005 Report Posted February 23, 2005 Ok just spent the day trying to complete some work I am doing. and talking to people about their problems. So I am listening to a great album by 'St Germain' (Tourist), which is considered 'Techo jazz'. I was listening before to the album 'Stories' by Laurent De Wilde from Belgium. St Germain aka Ludvic Navarre produce a jazz influence techno sound, anyone familier with this or techno jazz in general? Che. Quote
md655321 Posted February 23, 2005 Report Posted February 23, 2005 Great album. I dont have much more techno jazz, although the last few Matthew Shipp records might apply. Optometry by DJ Spooky is also good. Quote

It us actually quite diverse, ok it has repetative sinks, but Edouard Labor (sax) and Pascal Ohse combine to make a great sound, that is mixed by Navarre. Che. Quote
ghost of miles Posted February 23, 2005 Report Posted February 23, 2005 I think this is a very interesting subgenre of the music and will be quite curious about how it plays out. Quote

catesta Posted February 23, 2005 Report Posted February 23, 2005 I might have just made it 50 views. Quote

neveronfriday Posted February 23, 2005 Report Posted February 23, 2005 (edited) I have a different term for this: computer music. Reason? I have about 200 GByte of music on my PC. That includes St. Germain, Cafe del Mar, various Lounge CDs, and, and and. And that's just one sub-folder of I don't know how many. It's great stuff to do work to because it's smooth and doesn't require any attention (and doesn't distract either), but I would never really burn any of it onto a CD to take next door and listen to on my stereo. If I did, I would permanently expect weird dancers to appear and scantily-clad ladies to float through the room. This place is weird enough as it is, thank you. Cheers! catesta Posted February 23, 2005 Report Posted February 23, 2005 BTW, is it proper etiquette to click on JSngry's link everytime I check this thread in order to boost the viewed numbers on his thread? Quote

I suggest you try and listen to Laurent De Wilde version of that classic 'Moanin', nothing smooth and it may require your attention. Che. Quote
catesta Posted February 23, 2005 Report Posted February 23, 2005 Your tryin' to make those weird dancers and half naked women appear for him, aren't you? Quote
Man with the Golden Arm Posted February 23, 2005 Report Posted February 23, 2005 well I clicked that one as well. mike ladd? who!? might need to as my poo-pooing of Shipp's last one "Harmony and Abyss" is beginning to smell a bit better. che, I urge you to try Shipp's "Equilibrium". NOW! Has some of that techno to it but it's real... just like them dancers that just jumped on top of my speakers. Quote
