mrjazzman Posted March 10, 2005 Report Posted March 10, 2005 has anyone seen or have a copy of "Step Lightly" by Blue Mitchell. i think it's a japanease blue note........ Quote
brownie Posted March 10, 2005 Report Posted March 10, 2005 This was originally released on BN, the BN Classic vinyls, in 1980. With liner notes by Michael Cuscuna. Got my own... Quote
sidewinder Posted March 10, 2005 Report Posted March 10, 2005 One of the King 'GX' series I think. See it around occasionally but not too often. Included, of course, in the now OOP Mosaic box. Quote
Bill Fenohr Posted March 10, 2005 Report Posted March 10, 2005 It was issued on cd in Japan as a TOCJ in 1994 and went out of print in 1996. I think your only chance is to watch the used cd sites or ebay. Quote
connoisseur series500 Posted March 10, 2005 Report Posted March 10, 2005 I've got a copy which I'm hanging on to as I don't have the Mosaic box. Quote
Man with the Golden Arm Posted March 10, 2005 Report Posted March 10, 2005 Best of the BN Mitchell's IMO and yes, look for that TOCJ. Too much weird stuff going on in the Mosaic as I recall. Quote
Brad Posted March 10, 2005 Report Posted March 10, 2005 One of his best. If you can find it, get the Mosaic. Quote
connoisseur series500 Posted March 11, 2005 Report Posted March 11, 2005 Too much weird stuff going on in the Mosaic as I recall. What do you mean? Quote
Big Wheel Posted March 11, 2005 Report Posted March 11, 2005 Too much weird stuff going on in the Mosaic as I recall. What do you mean? I think that he might mean that the last two discs are a little too cheesy for his liking. I do enjoy Boss Horn but can see how some are turned off by that last session. But The Thing to Do and Down with It are kickin'! Quote
connoisseur series500 Posted March 11, 2005 Report Posted March 11, 2005 But The Thing to Do and Down with It are kickin'! Both readily available as individual cds. Quote
Big Wheel Posted March 11, 2005 Report Posted March 11, 2005 It's weird to me that Lion never originally released this session. Could he have been a bit cautious at first about taking a chance on Mitchell as a leader, and needed another great followup to persuade him? Quote
mrjazzman Posted March 11, 2005 Author Report Posted March 11, 2005 This was originally released on BN, the BN Classic vinyls, in 1980. With liner notes by Michael Cuscuna. Got my own... how are you, could we possibly make a trade? Quote
