Cool. The Animal gave it a good go, but he was in over his head. Just like anyone else who ever picked up a pair of sticks and slid behind a trap set. Buddy Rich was the very best...period...end of story...no questions asked.

I used to have this on an audio tape when I was about 10 or 11. I loved it. I also had the Animal puppet when you could move his eyebrow(s). He was my favorite Muppet.

I have seen about 10 Buddy Rich battles, and he wins every one! He's so fun to watch. Seems every time you see him he's got a new trick that he just perfects like friken hell!

I recently read Mel Torme's bio of Rich. When they were wheeling him into the operating room and asked him if he was allergic to anything, he actually did say "Country and Western"

I love the story where Buddy tells the audience not to clap when and after Mel came out. After he was done, no one clapped. lol, read that in Traps The Drum Wonder by Torme.
