bertrand Posted July 14, 2005 Report Posted July 14, 2005 Elmo Hope's Informal Jazz (5/7/56) with Coltrane and Mobley appears on the Fantasy 2-fer All-Star Sessions, along with most of the tracks from Homecoming. Since the tunes from Homecoming are jumbled on this CD with respect to the original LP, I was wondering if this was the case for Informal Jazz as well. The four tracks in CD order are: Weeja Polka Dots And Moonbeams On It Avalon Is this the LP order as well? Thanks, Bertrand. Quote
JSngry Posted July 14, 2005 Report Posted July 14, 2005 Used to have this as Two Tenors, a Prestige reissue of the album undeer Trane's name, and IIRC, yes, that's the order. But ti's been a LONG time since I had that LP. Quote
brownie Posted July 14, 2005 Report Posted July 14, 2005 I don't have the original LP, just the 'Two Tenors' reissue. But I stumbled recently on the Japanese Victor CD reissue with the original cover art (by Bob Weinstock and Tom Hannan). These Victor/Prestige stick to the original release as close as possible. The track listings is: 1 - Weeja 2 - Polka Dots and Moonbeams 3 - On It 4 - Avalon Quote
Claude Schlouch Posted July 14, 2005 Report Posted July 14, 2005 Bertrand, I have the Japanese reissue of Elmo Hope Sextet-Informal Jazz (VICJ-23753) from 1992 which indicate the title order you mention. It corresponds to the matrix order indicated on the Michel Ruppli’s book “The Prestige Label”. 884 Weeja 885 Polka Dots and Moonbeams 886 On It 887 Avalon I wish you very good holidays! Claude, your friend Quote
