Jim Alfredson Posted October 27, 2005 Author Report Posted October 27, 2005 Jeez, ss1. You turned pretty quick against your old team. Pistons are the underdogs yet again this season. When will people learn? I like how Artest wants to fight Big Ben on PPV for $10million. That dude is crazy. Number one, it will never happen. Number two, Ben would make frickin' mince meat out of that dude. Quote
Soulstation1 Posted October 27, 2005 Report Posted October 27, 2005 when artest returns to the palace, they should play AC / DC's "have a drink on me" jim you should know by now, if the daddy don't like # 08, i don't like # 08 Quote
Soulstation1 Posted October 27, 2005 Report Posted October 27, 2005 ps i gotta see lebron and shaq play this season in phoenix Quote
rachel Posted October 27, 2005 Report Posted October 27, 2005 Artest was <trying> to make a joke about boxing Ben for money. If anybody else in the NBA had said something like that, everybody would have gotten the joke. Too bad everybody outside of Indiana only gets to see one dimension of Artest. Not so sure it would be a 1st round knock out; Ron's father was Golden Gloves. Quote
Jim R Posted October 28, 2005 Report Posted October 28, 2005 GO WARRIORS!!! ← My sentiments exactly! They were FUN to watch last season (especially after Baron arrived). I'm looking forward to watching them again, whether they get close to the playoffs or not. Quote
Soulstation1 Posted October 28, 2005 Report Posted October 28, 2005 Artest is looking for a way to recoup last seasons lost wages Quote

OTOH Lakers are probably heading back to the lottery! Guy Quote

md655321 Posted October 28, 2005 Report Posted October 28, 2005 Darko with 6 blocks last night. The Pistons are STACKED this year. And, they might even enjoy playing without crazy Larry yelling all time. Should be fun. Quote
Soulstation1 Posted November 1, 2005 Report Posted November 1, 2005 the sorry spurs will get their bling tonight let the trash talk begin warriors will finish ahead of the lakers this year Quote
Jim R Posted November 1, 2005 Report Posted November 1, 2005 warriors will finish ahead of the lakers this year ← Only one game I know, but the Warriors loss in their final preseason game against Phoenix the other night troubles me. The W's came out smokin' behind Davis, JRich and Troy Murphy. They were up something like 17 in the first half, and then Derek "block my shot" Fischer went into his "get on my shoulders, boys" act. He turned the ball over, he made dumb passes, he forced up three's early in the clock, he tried his one-man fast break a few times, driving into the lane against (three) bigger defenders. All of this from a VETERAN guard. Just silly. Singlehandedly killed our momentum, and although we were able to stick around in the 2nd half, nobody (including Baron) could bring it back. So, we lost a close game to a very good team. This was exactly the pattern we followed last year. I was also disappointed by the play of Andris Biedrins, who looked good toward the end of last season. I'm also not sure what people (including Montgomery) see in Cabarkapa. Sure he has some skills, but he's so goddamn slow. He telegraphs everything. Probably has as many shots blocked as Fischer. In addition to Baron, JRich and Murph better stay healthy this year. Quote

So, we lost a close game to a very good team. This was exactly the pattern we followed last year. Fisher was one of Mullin's worst moves. Foyle's contract might have been worse, but I distinctly remember telling my brother at the time that I couldn't understand why the mediocre Fisher was getting so much money. I wouldn't worry too much about one preseason game. We'll see how they do over the relatively easy schedule of November. I was also disappointed by the play of Andris Biedrins, who looked good toward the end of last season. My brother was joking that as long as Biedrins manages to play more than 10 minutes without fouling out, we'll see a major improvement. Keep in mind, the guy is only 19. I think we'll see major improvements from him this year. I'm also not sure what people (including Montgomery) see in Cabarkapa. Sure he has some skills, but he's so goddamn slow. He telegraphs everything. Probably has as many shots blocked as Fischer. Big man with outside shooting. We shall see. Other guys that need to step up big this year: Mike Dunleavy Jr. and Pietrus. In addition to Baron, JRich and Murph better stay healthy this year. ← I think the Warriors could handle some moderate Murphy layoffs -- it'll push Diogu, Zarko and Biedrins up the learning curve. But Baron and Jason's health (less worried about Jason) is absolutely essential for their playoff chances. I'm kind of hoping that they trade Dunleavy for Nene, but that probably won't happen. re the Lakers: We've already had the joy of seeing them in the lottery. This year I'd rather they made it to the playoffs as a #8 seed (as long as they don't edge out the Warriors of course) and get crushed by the Spurs, losing by an average margin of 25-30 pts. I'd love to see the looks on Kobe and Phil's faces. Guy Edited November 1, 2005 by Guy Quote

I was looking at ESPN's predictions and they seem to be seriously underrated as far as the eastern conference championship goes. Guy Quote

Noj Posted November 1, 2005 Report Posted November 1, 2005 News to me. I fully expect the Pistons to be in the hunt this season. They've still got their championship core together. Quote
Jim R Posted November 1, 2005 Report Posted November 1, 2005 I wouldn't worry too much about one preseason game. We'll see how they do over the relatively easy schedule of November. ← Yeah, it just bothers me that the same old pattern is still there, both with regard to Fisher as well as the tendency for the W's to fail to hold onto big advantages because of stupid decision-making and poor execution down the stretch. Even JRich- as good as he is and as much as he has carried the scoring load- had a lot of bad 4th quarters last year (I hope he's been working hard on his FT's). Quote
Soulstation1 Posted November 1, 2005 Report Posted November 1, 2005 heat plays in phoenix on the first friday of january cavs plays in phoenix on the following saturday damn.... i can't afford both anyone going to a b-ball game this season? shaq's been quite so far, i hope he doen't break down....again the spurs and pistons are the 2 best teams in the league i can't wait for a 'sheed meltdown, i wonder how flip will handle him? JohnJ Posted November 2, 2005 Report Posted November 2, 2005 (edited) I noticed that all 12 of ESPN's experts are picking the Spurs to win it all. Also, if I recall correctly, 7 out of 12 are picking the Heat in the East, 4 the Pacers and only 1 the Pistons. Meanwhile, here in Japan the new professional league, aptly called the bj-league, starts Saturday with Joe Bryant, Kobe's dad, managing the Tokyo Apache. Edited November 2, 2005 by JohnJ Quote

Guy Berger Posted November 2, 2005 Report Posted November 2, 2005 WTF happened to the Kings last night? I've pretty much bought into the hype that this could be a good team (50 wins, bounced in 1st round) but losing to the Hornets by 26 pts isn't a good omen. Not that I care that much. (And the who the hell is J R Smith?) Impressive comeback by the Bucks! Guy Quote
md655321 Posted November 2, 2005 Report Posted November 2, 2005 J.R. Smith was their first rounf pick last year. HS kid who came on realy strong last year and had some very nice games. Besides Dorrell Wright of the Heat, that was a fantastic HS class. Hosh Smith, JR Smith, Al Jefferson, Dwoight Howard all look to be studs. Painful game for the 6ers. Hopefully I dont have to watch that crap all sseaosn. Im stuck with them now that I cant watch my pistons anymore. Luckily, they play Philly tonight. Should be a good game. Darko will get 10-8 and 5 blocks. Quote

Aggie87 Posted November 2, 2005 Report Posted November 2, 2005 (edited) Spurs got their rings from the Commish last night: ...and then went on to play a good game against the Nuggets. Finley certainly started out right in his first game in S.A. I don't know about the Van Exel signing, but if it's a package deal for Finley I'd take it any day. The Spurs hired a shooting coach (Chip Engelland) to work exclusively with Tony Parker, to help him overcome his inconsistency. And Duncan's got Fro this year. It's not Wallace-sized, but it's a start... Edited November 2, 2005 by Aggie87 Quote
Soulstation1 Posted November 2, 2005 Report Posted November 2, 2005 i thought c-webb missed a shot last night to win the game at the buzzer the boy is cursed t dunk needs a hair cut shaq says the toughest team for the heat will be the pistons Quote
