Free For All Posted September 28, 2005 Report Posted September 28, 2005 Yes, I had a Wizzer. Several, in fact. Remeber the Wizzer hockey game? Actually it was pretty lame. Still have and use a Lava Lamp. Several, in fact. Played a lot of video arcade games in the late 70s- Battle Zone, Galaxian, Asteroids, Tempest, etc. Fan of the frisbee & "frolf". I had a Strombecker 1/32 slot car set that rocked. Got to love the Silly Putty. Rock'em Sock'em Robots- a friend had one, I always wanted one. One robot was always the "good" one and always won though. Mouse Trap, Operation- cool games that you would lose pieces to and not be able to play. NEVER WAS INTO: The whole Rocky Horror Picture Show obsession. Hackey sack. Rubik's cube. Quote
7/4 Posted September 28, 2005 Report Posted September 28, 2005 I think I went to the Rocky Horror Picture Show at least a second time. I had a goatee for years. I didn't know it was a trend. I'm on the Atkins diet for health reasons, not because it's a fad. I think they forgot to list the most obvious one: the internet. Quote
BeBop Posted September 28, 2005 Report Posted September 28, 2005 I've played Trivial Pursuit, though at least 15 years after the 'fad' era, and I own a non-iPod MP3 player. Otherwise, I'm clean. Quote
BeBop Posted September 28, 2005 Report Posted September 28, 2005 ...and where are poker, Chrysler 300s, barbeque, low-hanging pants... Quote
ejp626 Posted September 28, 2005 Report Posted September 28, 2005 I didn't see Dungeons & Dragons -- or other role playing games. Those had been around in the 1970s but really got big in the 1980s. I played a bit BUT I stopped in high school. Trendy clothes - OP (Ocean Pacific) - nothing more pathetic than kids from the midwest dressing like they are going to go hang ten. Izod - still around I gather Polo The preppy look was kind of a fad, though one that seems to have returned. Skinny ties I still like narrow ties, but not the extremely skinny ones. Tie-dies (from the 1970s). I've indulged in more than my share of fads, though I've never let one take over my life (well, maybe the internet). Quote
RDK Posted September 28, 2005 Report Posted September 28, 2005 Some odd stuff that they consider "fads." Barbie Dolls, for example. Only if you consider a fad lasting nearly 50 years. Quote
DukeCity Posted September 28, 2005 Report Posted September 28, 2005 Growing up in Oregon in the '70s it was pretty hard to avoid wearing some Earth Shoes. Pretty attractive, no? Quote
BeBop Posted September 28, 2005 Report Posted September 28, 2005 Growing up in Oregon in the '70s it was pretty hard to avoid wearing some Earth Shoes. Pretty attractive, no? ← No. Somehow, I miraculously survived the late 60s, 70s, and 80s in Berkeley without buying Birkenstocks. Even lived in a Cal Co-op. Quote
DukeCity Posted September 28, 2005 Report Posted September 28, 2005 A miracle indeed. You must have a much stronger constitution than me. That's probably why I keep getting sucked into pyramid schemes, cults, fantasy football leagues and such... Quote
Jazzmoose Posted September 29, 2005 Report Posted September 29, 2005 The only clothing fads I ever fell for were elephant bells and stacks. My ankles still haven't recovered... Quote
