sidewinder Posted October 27, 2005 Report Posted October 27, 2005 Should be interesting to see how they get on. It's the wimpy 'non-American' variety. UK Beavers Quote
Hardbopjazz Posted October 27, 2005 Report Posted October 27, 2005 I prefer Asian beavers myself. ← As long as it's clean beaver. Quote
sheldonm Posted October 27, 2005 Report Posted October 27, 2005 There is a dry cleaning business down the street from my house called "Beaver Cleaners" . m~ Quote
porcy62 Posted October 27, 2005 Report Posted October 27, 2005 Maybe it's out topic, or continent, but when I visited Canada I have been in dozens of places called 'Beaver Creek', 'Beaver Cove', ecc, never saw a beaver! Quote
Jazzmoose Posted October 27, 2005 Report Posted October 27, 2005 The UK went along without beavers for 500 years???? That explains a lot... Quote
sidewinder Posted October 27, 2005 Author Report Posted October 27, 2005 Looks like these imported beavers are German. Another Saxon invasion ! Quote
Ron S Posted October 27, 2005 Report Posted October 27, 2005 Just be sure that they don't start introducing the American Beaver: Quote
marcello Posted October 27, 2005 Report Posted October 27, 2005 ".....and the beavers could also help keep waterways clear of debris." Actually they build dams that block streams and creeks that cause flooding. In New York State they are happy to provide permits to "trap" beavers that cause blockages. Those traps are set out and then checked two weeks later. Usually, in those two weeks, those beavers either drown or starve to death. It's a way that the State uses to avoid the stigma of shooting ( thus outright killing ) beavers. If people think they are just trapped, it's humane. Quote
