BeBop
The Django Reinhardt CD Mosaic is the first one I've bought that doesn't have a hinged cover. Yet the later-issued (?) Byrd-Adams set does have a hinge. Obviously, I'm quite upset and would very much like an explanation.
vibes
My Byrd/Adams set doesn't have a hinge. Most of my newer sets (Stitt, Turrentine, etc.) don't have the hinged covers. I actually prefer the sets without the hinge. Why your Byrd set would have a hinge, as opposed to mine not having a hinge, is beyond me. sidewinder
My Byrd/Adams set is definitely unhinged too (pardon the expression)... Edited July 13, 2003 by sidewinder
Harold_Z
My last few sets have been unhinged. I think it's an improvement.

jazzbo
Wow, I can see the ebay description now: "with hinged box, unlike the boxes currently sold by Mosaic."
Templejazz
Timely topic, I was gonna post about this. The hinge to my Woody Shaw Mosaic is BADLY damaged beyond repair. What are the chances that Mosaic might be able to help me out on this one? Would they have any leftovers gathering dust somewhere? Maybe I'll just email them and find out Edited July 14, 2003 by Templejazz
Kevin Bresnahan
Mosaic should have an extra Shaw box laying around. I thought a while back Mosaic announced that they were switching over to unhinged boxes for all future releases? Maybe they started ordering all new materials "unhinged"? It does sound weird that they would switch mid-stream. BTW, I would prefer unhinged. I have had hinges pull away from the box in the past. I'll have to check my Byrd/Adams set to see which variety I got. Sounds like a hinged set should command about a 10% premium. Out2Lunch
I'm becoming unhinged myself! I thought that the vinyl version of the Miles-Blackhawk set was due out from Mosiaic this month. The upcoming release option is missing from the Mosaic website, what's up with that?
Son-of-a-Weizen
I'm becoming unhinged myself! Parrot carpet bombing the Mosaics again? Why not ask Mnytime to loan you a rock python for the weekend?
BruceH
My wife thinks I'm unhinged for buying so many Mosaics. She may be right.
