Guest Posted November 6, 2005 Report Posted November 6, 2005 Since there's no RVG of this classic McLean session, I was looking for alternatives. When browsing cd-universe I stumbled across this TOCJ, out on 11-29-05. Cool price for a japanese disc. My knowledge of japanese re-issues is very limited, so I wonder if this disc will be the same as this one her (also TOCJ, but much more expensive) or maybe the same as this one here (another TOCJ ) Or is this going to be a "all new" disc, freshly remastered? Parkertown Posted November 6, 2005 Report Posted November 6, 2005 The first one you listed is the new TOCJ-24bit series. The second one is the old "BN Works Series" disc. The third is the JRVG. That's the one I've got. It's pretty good, if not a little bright. I wish I had the "BN Works" one though... This session is also available in the Grachun Moncur III "Mosaic Select" set. Quote
couw Posted November 6, 2005 Report Posted November 6, 2005 amazon.de typically has these new 24bit TOCJs for 15.50 euro. Shipping to Austria would add 3 euro (free shipping for 20+ euro orders). OSBeyond is not yet listed. Quote

OK, so these are all different remasters? But why is the new 24-Bit that cheap? And who did the remaster? Not RVG, as it seems. amazon.de typically has these new 24bit TOCJs for 15.50 euro. And I think the new 24-Bit-OSB is listed allready: http://www.amazon.de/exec/obidos/ASIN/B000...6857474-8597634 Price is €25.99, so it's still a bit cheaper to order from cd-universe (~€22.50 incl. shipping) Greetz, Sonny Quote
J.A.W. Posted November 6, 2005 Report Posted November 6, 2005 I posted a few threads about the TOCJ24s. Why don't you do a search? Here's a thread, and here's another one. You can get them directly from Hiroshi Tanno (hiroshi@earlyrecords.com) at 1,500 yen or about €11 each at today's exchange rate, plus shipping. He doesn't accept credit cards, but he does take PayPal, and his shipping rates are very reasonable, compared to the rate other Japanese stores like Amazon Japan, HMV Japan and Tower Japan are charging. Guest Posted November 6, 2005 Report Posted November 6, 2005 Thanx for the links, J.A.W.! I didn't do a search because I wasn't sure what to search for. As I said, I don't know much about all these japanese re-issues. The second thread you linked is very interesting, looks like the 24Bit-TOCJ's sound pretty good, even there's no big name behind the remastering. Thanx also for mentioning the possibility to order directly from Hiroshi Tanno, but unfortunatly I don't use paypal. But as for now I'm only interested in two titels of the series (McLean's OSB and Clark's Leapin' and Lopin') I may give it a try via cd-universe. Greetz, Sonny Quote
Tony Pusey Posted November 7, 2005 Report Posted November 7, 2005 Sonny, before I used Paypal Hiroshi was only too happy to accert cash in a registered letter. Quote
AmirBagachelles Posted November 13, 2005 Report Posted November 13, 2005 There was an RVG reissue of One Step Beyond, from Japan, cardboard slipcase. Quote
