Combining two posts

Why do two separate posts, one after the other, have to be combined when they are authored by the same person? I'd rather have that feature done away with - is there an option for turning this off?

This is a new feature of the updated software and I have not found a function to turn it off in the administration panels. That doesn't mean it can't be done, however. I'll keep looking. In the meantime, I'm going to turn this into a poll so we can get the majority opinion on this matter. Personally, I like it. It's more of a time limit thing. If you post 5-10 minutes after, it doesn't happen.

But I'm willing to turn it off if I can find out how to do that.
