I just got the album she made with Brownie and well, what can I say

So, where do I go from here? I was thinking of going chronologically and get all her early albums, which only seem to be available in expensive japanese imports.

What are her absolute best recordings?

The Complete Helen Merrill On Mercury Vol 1-4 is outstanding but will be difficult to obtain.

I really like You've Got a Date with the Blues, which was released on Verve in the late 80s, but I think was originally recorded for a Leonard Feather label in the mid 50s.
