Here's a chance to see a legend. She's been at this for too many years to count. Anyone plan on checking her out either of these days? I'll be there for at least one show.

I saw her last year on the same bill with another legend, Dave Brubeck. She had to be helped to and from the piano, but her playing was marvelous. Not surprisingly, she also tells some terrific stories.

You know I like Marian, and have had the pleasure of both seeing and speaking to her many times in the '70's, when she spent a lot of time here with Alec Wilder.

But....a legend?

Does being old make you a legend?

I realize that she didn't ask for it, and not to be too cruel, but if Ms. McPartland is the standard bearer for this music, and held up as a icon,....this music is in trouble.

That said, she plays pretty well and some of her compositions are delightful.

I'm sure she will pack the house for Todd, and that's good.
