Randy Twizzle Posted April 28, 2006 Report Posted April 28, 2006 Hollywood Palace in 1969 My parents were probably watching. Quote
porcy62 Posted April 28, 2006 Report Posted April 28, 2006 I bet Charles Manson watched it. Can you provide the exact broadcasting date? I guess it's before the 9th of August 1969. Quote
JSngry Posted April 28, 2006 Report Posted April 28, 2006 Forget Manson watching it, I'll bet Robert Stigwood was watching it, like Eric Burdon watched Otis Redding on Ready, Staeady, Go! Is it just me, or did Bing always sound good even when he sounded awful? Good to see Bobbie Gentry's talent being squandered. Story of her life, I guess. But she did have a voice! Was that Phyllis Newman or Ruta Lee or just who was that? She says "no', but her body language says "yes". But I say no. I couldn't afford the hospital bills. The only thing better than Robert Preston doing "A Little Help..." would have been Jack Cassidy doing it. But America was not ready for the genius of Jack Cassidy. That has always been America's fatal flaw, and America will fall from grace because of that. And that alone. And check out Englebert's eyes during "Yesterday". The eyes are the window to the soul, you know. Variety shows, why did they ever extincticize themselves? I cry tears of regret because they did. Quote
porcy62 Posted April 28, 2006 Report Posted April 28, 2006 It's from 10/11/69 That's a good explanation because they didn't sing 'Helter Skelter' Quote

That has always been America's fatal flaw, and America will fall from grace because of that. And that alone. The redhead is Gwen Verdon. She always made my thermometer rise. I think it's Dick Shawn singing "A Little Help". Love the hair, Dick! I agree about Bing - the greatest. A cheesy slice of show-biz history - brought a nostalgic smile to my lips. Quote

Dmitry Posted April 29, 2006 Report Posted April 29, 2006 And check out Englebert's eyes during "Yesterday". The eyes are the window to the soul, you know. Allegedly Humperdinck plays a decent tenor sax. Quote
JSngry Posted April 29, 2006 Report Posted April 29, 2006 Full details here: http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0603131/ I wonder why The Rodriguez Brothers weren't included in this medley. "Being For The Benefit Of Mister Kite" would've been perfect! Quote

"Being For The Benefit Of Mister Kite" would've been perfect! I see from that link that Sweetwater was on the show. They were one of the bands that played Woodstock, but were left off the record and film, like Bert Sommer and Mountian. Quote
