Jazz Kat Posted May 22, 2006 Report Posted May 22, 2006 I finally got myself a real Hammond organ for 100 bucks. I'm about to pick it up today. Here it is.... Tell me what you think.. Hammond Organ Quote
Jim Alfredson Posted May 22, 2006 Report Posted May 22, 2006 Chris, I don't mean to be a buzzkill, but you should've asked before bidding. I do not believe that is a tonewheel Hammond but rather one of the later transistor models. To be curt, don't expect it to sound anything like a Hammond B3, if that's the sound you're going for. The tonewheel organs to look for are the C2, C3, B2, B3, any of the A-100's (A101, A102, etc.), to a lesser extent the L-100 or H series, or even the M2 or M3 (although those lack decent bass, but they are good to get going on). Anything else is really not worth the investment. Anything with a "built-in" Leslie is not going to be a tonewheel organ. Sorry. Quote
The Magnificent Goldberg Posted May 22, 2006 Report Posted May 22, 2006 I'm not an expert, but I tried out a B3000 once and it looked like that. MG Quote
Jazz Kat Posted May 22, 2006 Author Report Posted May 22, 2006 I just got it. No, it don't sound like a B-3, but I mean, 100 dollars... That's pretty good. Quote
