couw Posted July 27, 2006 Report Share Posted July 27, 2006 actually, there is no single thread that wraps it all up. Discussion was taken to this board from Board Krypton and continued midway. There are tons of notes scattered throughout threads and forums on the sound quality of this and that JRVG. Basically, the early batches had inconsistent sound, some were fine, others sounded like AM radio. The first few batches of domestic RVGs had different mastering than their japanese counterparts. Later on they used the same masters and sounded much more consistent. The only reason to prefer JRVGs these days is because of the mini-LP cover art. Overall, (J)RVGs are loud and tend to be compressed, which for some means it's fatiguing to listen to them.
