Guy Berger Posted September 16, 2006 Report Posted September 16, 2006 Any fans of this album? I picked it up about a year ago but only started listening to it a week ago. Not a classic by any means but some nice playing by Bley and Peacock. The drummer on the first 5 tracks in Paul Motian; Billy Elgart replaces him on the last 3. The music is more straight-ahead than some of Bley's later stuff. Guy Quote
B. Goren. Posted September 16, 2006 Report Posted September 16, 2006 This was my first Paul Bley's CD. I still love and listen to it from time to time. Quote
couw Posted September 16, 2006 Report Posted September 16, 2006 I have the vinyl and I like to pull it out every now and then. Very nice album. Quote

Head Man Posted September 17, 2006 Report Posted September 17, 2006 I find that mostly anything by Paul Bley is worth listening to. No, that's not absolutely true. I don't like 'Barrage'. Quote
clifford_thornton Posted September 17, 2006 Report Posted September 17, 2006 No, that's not absolutely true. I don't like 'Barrage'. Barrage is a pretty unique one in his discography, but I think it's a fun jam... Too bad Bley's groups with Giuseppi Logan or Pharoah Sanders weren't recorded! Quote
clifford_thornton Posted September 18, 2006 Report Posted September 18, 2006 Apparently, according to the Bill Dixon book. Reference is made to all Cellar concerts, including groups of Bley with Pharaoh in '64. Quote
JohnS Posted September 18, 2006 Report Posted September 18, 2006 There at least two, probably more duo cds by Bley and Peacock. I've had cds on Owl and Soul Note. Quote
