Jim R Posted September 25, 2006 Report Posted September 25, 2006 Just heard that the great virtuoso bassist has passed. Aladar Pege dies / Washington Post Quote
sidewinder Posted September 26, 2006 Report Posted September 26, 2006 Sad news. Saw him just the once with Mingus Dynasty and he held the fort pretty well indeed. RIP. Quote
P.L.M Posted September 26, 2006 Report Posted September 26, 2006 A great bass player that I've seen once with the MINGUS DYNASTIE. He was great behind WALTER NORRIS WINTER ROSE (and, for few tracks on NORRIS DRIFTING). RIP ALADAR. Quote
EKE BBB Posted September 26, 2006 Report Posted September 26, 2006 Sad news indeed. Will spin his "International Jazz Workshop - Live" (HTSART) tonight as a tribute. Quote
mikeweil Posted September 26, 2006 Report Posted September 26, 2006 One of Europe's greatest bassists - he could make any US virtuoso blush! RIP, Hungarian giant of the big box! Quote
Joe G Posted September 26, 2006 Report Posted September 26, 2006 I hate finding out about people because they've died. Quote
Mr. Bassman Posted September 27, 2006 Report Posted September 27, 2006 Very sad, indeed, mikeweil send me a mail with this link. It touches me personally, because I had the chance to talk to him, when he was playing here in a small jazzclub(some years ago). He was a very nice person and he gave me some good advice for life, music and practising. I will miss him, goodbye Aladar! Quote
