Dmitry Posted October 15, 2006 Report Posted October 15, 2006 I have several Toshiba 10" reissues which sound terrific, but ovbviously that bears little or no value in judging the original BN 10" microgrooves. How do the original 5000 series BN 10" microgrooves sound in comparison thp-o their 1500 series Lexington Ave and and later 12" reissues? Thanks. Quote
Chuck Nessa Posted October 15, 2006 Report Posted October 15, 2006 (edited) Same mastering engineer, same pressing plant, couple of years later. How much do you treasure another two inches? This is an artifact/nostalgia issue. Edited October 15, 2006 by Chuck Nessa Quote

We ARE talking about the stock market, right? Quote
mikeweil Posted October 16, 2006 Report Posted October 16, 2006 Was there any remastering when Van Gelder re-compiled the recordings for the 12" LP reissues? When one of the Miles Davis sessions was issued on CD for the first time on CD in the USA, Cuscuna found alternates that had no reverb, contrary to the 12" LP master tape. Quote
michel1969 Posted October 16, 2006 Report Posted October 16, 2006 Toshiba BLP 5066 : very good sound Lex BLP 5066 : very good also, but maybe a little more dynamics (IMO, with my tourne disques) Quote
