Rooster_Ties Posted January 7, 2007 Report Posted January 7, 2007 (edited) Found this loaded to Youtube in chronological order (parts 1 through 15), but this search displays the clips in reverse order (reversed from the way they were loaded). Youtube search on 'Yellowshark" - in 'date loaded' order And I think the following two clips are NOT found on the comercial audio release. Frank Zappa - Yellowshark: Overture 1of15 (improvised) Frank Zappa - Yellowshark: Amnerika/NOTA/PA 9of15 (only the "Amnerika" part only is unreleased (the other two parts were on YS), although some version of Amnerika (as recorded by the EM) got into Civilization Phase III) And NONE of this video has been released anywhere (not legally, anyway). Enjoy!! Edited January 7, 2007 by Rooster_Ties Quote
Rooster_Ties Posted January 7, 2007 Author Report Posted January 7, 2007 (edited) By the way, perhaps my two favorite cuts are... "The Girl in the Magnesium Dress" -- which started its life as a pure Synclavier piece. It doesn't start in this clip until halfway (time-index 1:50) through the clip... Frank Zappa - Yellowshark: III & GITMD 5of15 (let load, and play from time-index 1:50) "Food Gathering in Post-Industrial America: 1992" -- one of Zappa's "dramatic reading with improv" things -- half-improvised (musically), but very controlled in places. Frank Zappa - Yellowshark: FGIPIA: 1992 7of15 Edited January 7, 2007 by Rooster_Ties Quote
mikeweil Posted January 7, 2007 Report Posted January 7, 2007 I'm not 100% sure, but this looks like the performance at the Alte Oper Frankfurt, which was recorded by German TV (and broadcast on free tv, at least in part). It was the very last time Zappa walked on to a stage, just like his ancestor Francesco Zappa, and in the same city! Oh man - I had a free ticket and couldn't go there as I was booked to play for a dance workshop in Italy at the time - I considered taking a plane from Florence to Frankfurt, but it wouldn't work, no chance ..... there is no other opportunity where I missed a concert that I regret more! Д.Д. Posted January 8, 2007 Report Posted January 8, 2007 This is really a rough performance of "Amnerika". I heard an MP3 from a (much) later performance of Ensemble Modern (they do Zappa programs from time to time) and they just nailed it there - I hope it gets released one day. Quote
