Sundog Posted January 22, 2007 Report Posted January 22, 2007 This could be interesting. Liebman- Back On The Corner Quote
Guy Berger Posted January 22, 2007 Report Posted January 22, 2007 Not sure these are my choice of musicians to pay tribute to On the Corner, but I'll be curious to read reviews... Guy Quote
Hot Ptah Posted January 22, 2007 Report Posted January 22, 2007 It's interesting to me that Liebman states that Miles Davis' music in 1973 and 1974 was inspired by Sun Ra and others. I have not seen a printed mention of Sun Ra's music as an influence or inspiration for Miles' music before. Quote
Guest the mommy Posted January 22, 2007 Report Posted January 22, 2007 it sounds like liebman is on a different corner than the one miles was on. maybe the same city... Quote
ep1str0phy Posted January 23, 2007 Report Posted January 23, 2007 We've had lots of folks deal with this material recently, and the results haven't always been pretty. (though I enjoy the relatively straightforward, if extremely reverential, approach that Wadada's been taking with this material... fun, if not tremendous material). Liebman does seem fond of repertory work... (Just a note--got a copy of Drum Ode recently--which I hadn't heard before--then proceeded to freak my own ass out by pulling the LP out of the bag back cover first... that is one freaky looking photograph. They just shouldn't be that big.) Quote

There are quite a few Liebman/Beirach duo recordings, most of them OOP: http://upbeat.com/lieb/fulldisc.htm Why not get the Mosaic Select? http://www.mosaicrecords.com/prodinfo.asp?number=MS-012 Quote
