Soulstation1 Posted March 13, 2007 Author Report Posted March 13, 2007 anyone interested in joining? Quote
Jim R Posted March 14, 2007 Report Posted March 14, 2007 I'm not a gambler, but I think I want to do this just for the hell of it. Actually, there's a reason... I haven't really enjoyed the @#$%ing tournament for many years. Every time I'm really excited about pulling for a certain team, they fuck up. So, I think I'll pick against all (or most of) the teams I actually want to win, and that way I'm satisfied no matter what (happy I picked correctly if the knuckleheads lose, and happy they advanced even if I picked wrong). I don't know if this makes any sense, I'm just explaining to myself why I'm playing this stupid game (haven't hardly seen anybody play outside of the Pac-10 this year ). So, you want picks for all the rounds before Thursday morning, or just the 1st round picks to begin with? Quote
Soulstation1 Posted March 14, 2007 Author Report Posted March 14, 2007 All picks need to be in before tip off on Thursday This includes your eventual NCAA champion Quote
Quincy Posted March 14, 2007 Report Posted March 14, 2007 The scoring would be different, but wouldn't it be easier to do this through Yahoo Fantasy Sports? Everybody could see how they're progressing vs. the field as it happens, and you'd be saved a lot of work. Slate actually had an article yesterday on the extinction of the office pool guy, thanks to online brackets. Quote

Quincy Posted March 14, 2007 Report Posted March 14, 2007 The more the merrier! Yahoo organissimo tournament Group ID# 156928 Password - greaze They've added some improvements this year. You can click the blue "i" and brief team bios along with some stats are provided. The java applet will keep track of games as they're happening. As the tournament progresses it will also give you "what if" feedback. Yup Jim R., I think you'll enjoy the tournament more when you get caught up in how your picks are doing. Make all your picks before tomorrow. Quote

Soulstation1 Posted March 14, 2007 Author Report Posted March 14, 2007 Q i'm not sure that link works Quote
Quincy Posted March 14, 2007 Report Posted March 14, 2007 Q i'm not sure that link works Hmm, tried it on a different browser and it did for me. I'm going away for an hour or so. If the above link is not working, try http://sports.yahoo.com/ Then choose "Tournament Pick 'Em '07" near the top. Join an existing group or private group, forgot how they phrase it. Enter the # and password from my earlier post. I'll check back in when I get back and see how things are working. Quote
Noj Posted March 14, 2007 Report Posted March 14, 2007 My picks are in! I've watched maybe ten games all year. Quote
Quincy Posted March 14, 2007 Report Posted March 14, 2007 Good it works! I think I saw about that many too. All but 1 game involved either the Ducks or the Buckeyes. I picked Louisville over Stanford because Cardinals (plural) outnumber Cardinal singular. Quote

Quincy Posted March 20, 2007 Report Posted March 20, 2007 Nice picks, Edward! I'll say. He's perfect on the right side of the screen! Quote
Edward Posted March 20, 2007 Report Posted March 20, 2007 Thanks, guys. With the scoring weighted as it is at the Yahoo site, the next two rounds will make or break all of us. I am presently tied for first in one of my pools at work (I didn't select Vandy over WA ST. in that one, unfortunately), and I am in second in the other one (a "Seed-8" pool in which you select eight teams and receive points based upon the number of wins that your teams tally - for instance, two wins by USC, a #5 seed, gets you 10 points). Aggie87 Posted March 23, 2007 Report Posted March 23, 2007 Memphis beat A&M tonight, 65-64. Hats off to Memphis for moving on to the next round. There is going to be some controversy about the ending of this game, as the refs took 1.1 seconds off the clock (3.1 down to 2.0), when all of the replays seemed to indicate only about 0.1-0.2 seconds of clock should have come off. This affected A&M's last play, which ended up being a long 3 pointer that was off the mark. With the correct clock call, they might have had a chance to run a real play - or at least something more than a desperation shot like that. I think that clearly affected the outcome of the game. All in all, A&M had a fantastic year, and I couldn't be prouder of them. They've really never been this good before, ever. I think they had ONE prior time making it to the Sweet 16, not sure how long ago that was too - at least 25 years ago. Hats off to Acie Law for a great career at A&M, and for almost single-handedly elevating the program from an afterthought at a football school to something of real substance. Ok, Gillespie's not too shabby a coach either. Quote
Noj Posted March 23, 2007 Report Posted March 23, 2007 The Bruins win ugly, but a win's a win! They'll have to play a much better game to beat Kansas. Quote
