  1. I agree, but I wanted a record of contacting Mosaic about the problem before the pre-order period ended - I also took a couple of screenshots illustrating the problem. Ultimately, though, I wasn't terribly concerned about Mosaic addressing the problem and "making things right". The only question now is whether I should tack on the Tristano set to my pre-order of the JATP set.
  2. Perhaps, but Mosaic's webpage for the set states: "Preorder sale price $149 thru Jan 11th" I doubt very much that Mosaic Records intentionally cut off preorders hours before midnight on January 11th to boost its profits.
  3. Perhaps you nabbed the last set of the first pressing! I attempted to order the set at the pre-order price this evening after I returned home from work, but I was unable to do so because it was identified as "Out of Stock". I shot Mosaic Records an email through its website explaining what happened and requesting the opportunity to purchase the set at the pre-order price even if it meant waiting for a second pressing.
  4. I am offering The Complete Dean Benedetti Recordings of Charlie Parker (MD7-129) 7-CD Mosaic set for purchase for $130.00. This price includes delivery to a U.S. address via USPS Media Mail (insured). Discs #1-4 are in near mint condition; discs #5-7 are in very good condition - each of the latter three CDs has some light scuffing that does not affect play. The 48-page LP-sized booklet is in very good condition - the top outer corner of the front and back cover pages are slightly creased and some light creases/indentations are evident in some of the internal pages. The hinged Mosaic box is also in very good condition with some signs of wear. I shall accept payment via PayPal only. Please send me a PM if interested. Thanks for looking!
  5. I had been on the fence regarding purchasing this set, but I decided to pull the trigger once it hit “running low” status. The set arrived a few days ago (I’m looking forward to listening to a big chunk of it this holiday weekend), and I found it interesting that the booklet was numbered 2687 of an edition limited to 2,500. My thoughts are that either (1) Mosaic made a printing error (and I don’t care), or (2) there was something in the contract (or a revision thereof) that allowed Mosaic to sell more than the 2,500 limit originally anticipated (and that’s great!!!) The sale of ~2,700 copies of a set within a 16-month period would probably be some type of sales record for Mosaic. In any instance, I don’t think that the matter is worthy of in-depth analysis, but, with all the Mosaic sets that I have purchased over the years, this is a first for me.
  6. Target is presently listing the 8-CD as a preorder at $71.99 with a July 30, 2021 release date. If Target offers a Buy 2 Get 1 Free music sale during Target Deal Days (June 20th - 22nd) as it did during last year’s Deal Days, you should be able to pick up this set for around $48.00 plus tax assuming that you can find two other comparably priced music items (or movie/book/video games as Target’s Buy 2 Get 1 Free sales typically allow you to mix products from all four categories in a single order). I took advantage of several of Target’s Buy 2 Get 1 Free music promotions last year, and Target included (with perhaps one or two exceptions) all of its music inventory (including pre-orders) in these sales.
  7. I am offering for purchase the three Mosaic LP-sized booklets identified below. I bought all three booklets directly from Mosaic Records long after the associated boxed sets were out of print, and I no longer need them as I have been fortunate enough to track down the complete sets. The Chet Baker is marked with an "X" below where it reads "This is one of an edition limited to 7500 albums"; the Basie and Goodman booklets are marked with an "X" where the number of the set would be indicated. Shipping to U.S. addresses via USPS Medial Mail is a flat $3.00 whether you buy one, two, or all three booklets. I will consider shipping any of these booklets overseas at actual shipping cost, but I have a feeling that such cost would be prohibitively expensive. The condition of each booklet is as described: 1) 8-page booklet for The Complete Pacific Jazz Lie Recordings of the Chet Baker Quartet with Russ Freeman: The booklet is in excellent condition with almost no signs of wear EXCEPT that there is a small crease in the very upper right hand corner of the booklet that extends from the front cover page to the rear cover page (and all pages in between): $10.00 2) 32-page booklet for The Complete Roulette Studio Recordings of Count Basie and His Orchestra: The booklet is in excellent condition with almost no signs of wear EXCEPT that there is a small tear (about 1/2 inch) on the right-hand side of the cover page (about 1/3 of the way down from the top).: $11.00 (SOLD) 3) 20-page booklet for The Complete Capitol Small Group Recordings of Benny Goodman 1944-1955: The book is in excellent condition with almost no signs of wear.: $12.00 (SOLD) I shall accept payment via PayPal. Please send me a PM if you are interested.

All four CDs have been stored in separate jewel cases since their purchase and the CDs will be shipped in these jewel cases along with the original boxed set packaging. The boxed set packaging itself is in excellent condition with almost no signs of wear. The 38-page booklet embedded in the boxed set is in excellent condition and contains discographical information, black & white photos, and an essay by Ted Gioia. 4) The Complete Capitol Live Recordings of George Shearing – includes LP-sized booklet, but NO box (Mosaic Records MD5-157): $45.00 Per visual inspection, Disc 1, 2, and 4 are in good condition – each of these CD’s has a fair number of small, light scratches and scuffs that do not affect play. Disc 5 is in excellent condition except for one small area of light scuffing. Disc 3 is in fair condition – it has numerous light scratches and scuffs. I have recently played this set twice through now, and none of these scratches or scuffs affects play – all five CDs play perfectly! The CD booklet for the first two CDs is in excellent condition; the other CD booklet is in good condition as it contains a couple of creases. The 12-page LP-sized booklet (numbered 0797 of an edition limited to 5,000 albums) is in very good condition with minimal signs of wear. 5) The Complete Pacific Jazz Studio Chet Baker / Russ Freeman (Mosaic Records MR4-122 – 4-LP set): $45.00 The 12-page LP-sized booklet is in good condition overall, showing wear and some signs of use; but there are no tears, creases, writings, marks, or other significant defects. The LP-sized box is in good condition overall, but the bottom right corner of the box lid is split and frayed – the photo of Chet Baker that appears on the top of the lid is in very good condition. A visual inspection of the four LP’s (8 sides) would indicate that each is in VG to VG+ condition EXCEPT that there are two relatively long, light scratches on Side #1 (one extending across tracks #3 and #4 and the other extending across tracks #4 and #5) and one long, light scratch extending across track #1 of Side #2. As visual grading of used vinyl records has significant shortcomings, I have listed to each of the LPs in this set at least twice recently and this is what I noted: Side 1: about thirteen intermittent small pops can be heard around the middle of track #4, Side 2: about six small pops/clicks can be heard during the first half of track #1 and one small pop can be heard near the beginning of track #7, Side 3: one small pop followed shortly thereafter by four or five intermittent small pops can be heard around the middle of track #1, Side 4: one small pop can be heard near the end of track #5, Side 5: one fairly large pop can be heard around the middle of track #6, Side 6: one small pop can be heard around the middle of track #3, Side 7: one fairly large pop can be heard around the middle of track #3, and Side 8: one fairly large pop/click can be heard around the middle of track #2 You might hear a few other very small pops among the 52 tracks comprising this set, but, to my ears, most tracks sound excellent with no discernible surface noise. I would not be selling this set but for the fact that I purchased another copy of the set in near mint condition at a time when I could afford to do so (i.e., between a girlfriend and my first wife). At any rate, this is a very good “playable” set.
  11. I probably don’t need to tell you that if you’re on the fence about purchasing a particular Mosaic set, you should go ahead and buy it. The CD sets that have recently gone out of print all seem to have held their value pretty well. (I’ll give the set another shot over the weekend.)
  12. I don’t know ... I really like some of Bing’s music from this period (e.g., Bing with a Beat), but I have had a really difficult time getting past the arrangements on this set. At least most of the songs are top-notch. This is just my humble opinion, of course.

  19. At those prices, someone really needs to buy the Lionel Hampton, Billie Holiday (Columbia), and Sammy Davis, Jr. sets.
  20. I am very sorry, jazztrain, but I never received it even though I’ve corresponded with a couple of other forum members via PM over the last few days. The Brubeck set is still available - I’m sending you a PM right now.
  21. Dear Eric and Felser, Both sets are still available - I have sent you each a PM with payment information. Thank you very much, Eric, for resurrecting this thread. The only items still remaining are the Bunny Berigan CD, the Dave Brubeck set, the Benny Goodman Mosaic booklet, the Jimmie Lunceford Masters of Jazz CD, the Shorty Rogers Mosaic booklet, and the Phil Woods partial (discs 4 & 5 only) Mosaic set.
