It's interesting that despite that the band didn't change at all between the two recording dates. I wonder if this might become a Connoisseur disc in the future... Quote
brownie Posted March 18, 2007 Report Posted March 18, 2007 I'ld buy that one right away! Rejected or not... Quote
Kevin Bresnahan Posted March 18, 2007 Report Posted March 18, 2007 Grant Green plays pretty good but Ike has played better. He sounds tired. When I heard these tunes in Cuscuna's office, he was looking for stuff for the "lost sessions" Connoisseur CD. He deemed these not worthy for release. Quote
The Magnificent Goldberg Posted March 18, 2007 Report Posted March 18, 2007 I'd have thought that, with two sessions in the can, the reason Alfred Lion wouldn't have issued it, even the best bits of the two sessions, was truly because the sessions didn't make it. A pity, but shit happens. MG Quote
Kyo Posted March 18, 2007 Author Report Posted March 18, 2007 Speaking of "lost" Ike Quebec sessions, I wonder why the two good tracks from this session didn't make the "Complete 45 sessions" two-fer. Was it just lack of space? I don't have that "Complete" 2CD set yet so I wouldn't know the running times. Kyo Posted March 19, 2007 Author Report Posted March 19, 2007 It could also include the 3 tracks left off the Bennie Green Mosaic Select that contained the rest of the "Congo Lament" session. Those were issued along with the other Congo Lament tracks as "Easy Living" unless I'm confusing some things here. Quote

The CD issue contains all the tracks, with and without Green/Turrentine. And it's very nice indeed. MG Quote
