ghost of miles Posted March 27, 2007 Report Posted March 27, 2007 Free for All & I mentioned this over in the NCAA pool thread, but thought I'd start a separate thread... it's just so incredible. I've watched it about half a dozen times now. Anthony Atkinson had won Barton's previous two tournament games with a last-second free-throw and a last-second buzzer-beating three-point shot. In the championship game Barton was facing Winona State, which had won 57 games in a row (shades of 1970s UCLA Bruins, eh?). With 45 seconds left, they were down 74-67: Quote
ghost of miles Posted March 27, 2007 Author Report Posted March 27, 2007 Oh, and no three-point shots were made in the making of this comeback. Quote
Eric Posted March 27, 2007 Report Posted March 27, 2007 Pretty amazing. Makes me feel a little better about KU's loss to UCLA. Quote
Noj Posted March 27, 2007 Report Posted March 27, 2007 Two missed free throws, two turnovers, lose by two. Man, I feel for that Winona State team. Up seven with 45 seconds left? An epic collapse. Quote
alocispepraluger102 Posted March 27, 2007 Report Posted March 27, 2007 the north carolina collapse sunday was outstanding. they made 1 of their last 22 field goals and blew a 15 point lead. Quote
Man with the Golden Arm Posted March 27, 2007 Report Posted March 27, 2007 Wow! that Atkinson delivering a text book layup so calmly with a motherlode of adrenaline is simply amazing. this was at the top of the window: heh! Quote
Jim Alfredson Posted March 27, 2007 Report Posted March 27, 2007 Yeah, I heard about this on NPR. It just makes you feel proud watching it, even if you don't care about the team. It ain't over until it's over. Pistons proved that last night, too! Quote
ghost of miles Posted March 28, 2007 Author Report Posted March 28, 2007 The school has less than 1000 students. Growing up in Indiana, where basketball is all but the state religion, and where the Hoosiers story actually transpired, I've really been captivated by this story... makes me want to start watching NCAA basketball again. Neal Pomea Posted March 30, 2007 Report Posted March 30, 2007 Thanks for posting this! Great defense. A couple of timely steals at the end. That last one, wow! Quote
