Harold_Z Posted April 23, 2007 Report Posted April 23, 2007 (edited) Get This album! OK - I tried to find the previous thread about Bossa Nova and had no luck so please bear with me. I ordered it online and got it about three days ago. It IS a master piece. It's been in my car stereo since the day I got it. It's only 8 tunes but WOW !! ..........it's great stuff -I'm in a groove and listening to it over and over and over. Not what I expected in terms of guitar. I thought Baden's playing would be way upfront, but it's not. He just plays exquistely as a band guitarist- a studio man if that is term you would prefer. He sings his parts where they are needed. It's not a guitar centered album. It a SONG centered album. And great songs they are. Who is the drummer? Is it Edison Machado? Whoever it is he is ON THE MONEY !! Quateto Em Cy adds a lot also. It's a 4 voice chick singer thing and it's mostly in unison , but WOW! It is just in the right place and right sound and YEAHHHHHH ! I love it! Again - Get this! It's terrific. Neal Pomea Posted September 4, 2008 Report Posted September 4, 2008 Sorry if this has been posted before or somewhere else, but I just received a CD from el/Cherry Red Records called Os Afro Sambas A Vontade, which releases two of Baden Powell's mid-60s albums. Appears to be a 2008 release. Gorgeous! http://www.amazon.com/Afro-Sambas-Vontade-...7255&sr=8-2 I have the 1996 cd remake here: http://www.amazon.com/Os-Afro-Sambas-Baden...471&sr=8-15 Quote
